Hmmmmm. Notice that the Backpage ads for LB's seems to have been taken over by the agencies. Used to be mostly freelance where the girls would post their own ads. Now the ads are just extensions of the Thai escort agencies with inflated pricing to go along with the controlled ads. Anybody have any idea about this? Possibly Backpage is not accepting ads from freelancers anymore. Just found this strange, although I don't utilize Backpage for much of anything..

It's probably just been overwhelmed by agencies and traffickers.
    Generally backpage is a cesspool.

Backpage just closed their adult section in the USA.
    Here is some good articles.

    http://www.cbc.ca/news/business/back...pute-1.3928564
"The justices left in place a lower court ruling that said federal law shields Backpage from liability because the site is just hosting content created by people who use it."

    http://globalnews.ca/news/3177482/ca...-backpage-com/
"Some law enforcement officials say the advertising website Backpage.com should shut down its €œadult€ sections in Canada, following allegations in the U.S. that the company systematically edited adult ads to remove words that indicate sex trafficking.
But others argue the site is a useful tool that helps Canadian authorities track potential victims, search for missing women and monitor prostitution services."

    https://www.theguardian.com/society/...er-trafficking
"The shutdown of the adult classifieds section on Backpage.com will endanger the lives of sex workers and make it harder for officials to investigate trafficking and support victims, civil rights advocates said."

We in the west have a real hangup about sex. Our ignorant lawmakers are scared to death of the religious wack jobs. So, they make all sorts of draconian laws to make it very precarious for two people to meet for sex if there is any exchange of money. Everyone, including every lawmaker, pays for sex. Then they make laws against it. Hypocritical bastards and cowards. If I were wealthy I would own a private investigative agency and send my agents out to dig up anything I could on every lawmaker just for kicks. Then spread it all over the news and the internet.

The owner of Backpage in the US was recently charged with something related to promoting prostitution. This likely explains why they shut down their US adult section. Some other countries may follow.

The owner was found innocent of all charges in California. They shut down their US adult section voluntarily.
They are disgusted with the harassment by authorities and the seeming suspension of free speech in the USA these days.

There is more free speech in Thailand than there is in the US or Canada, and that includes the strict laws against insulting the royal family. Atlas Shrugged in the land of the free and home of the brave.

Well there is still more free speech in the USA due to the fact that you can openly protest almost anything without fear of reprisal.
In Thailand if you dare to protest anything you are almost sure to get arrested or worse.

In the USA the problem lies in the hypocrisy in allowing freedoms in many ways but then making drug use and prostitution crimes etc.
They impose laws unilaterally across all situations sending generally innocent people to jail. Guys caught with a couple joints share cells with heroin dealers.
While drug laws in Thailand are harsh a person caught with a small amount of weed will never see prison, perhaps a night in jail and a fine at worst.
This is changing but not fast enough, the war on drugs failed. It is just being kept alive by greedy private prison systems and other corruption in the pipe.

Instead of moving towards normalization of prostitution they are starting to go the other way.
Rumors are the new Trump administration may start going after porn again, even though it has been legal for decades.
              We will see...

I'm afraid that political correctness, in extreme, has taken over in the land of the free and home of the brave. Luckily, unlike Canada and the European nations including the UK, we have a constitution with a bill of rights. It always amazes me that the government in the UK can ban weapons for self defense and confiscate private weapons with no recourse. You can also be prosecuted for so called free speech "hate crimes" which is not yet possible in the US. Also, the UK has video cameras everywhere in the country including in public restrooms and law enforcement monitors them 24/7. There are certain things that I cannot say to another person or put in print if it is deemed racist, anti gay, anti Muslim, or anti female. Although we don't have any hate crimes laws we do have groups that will threaten you and your family if you say or write politically incorrect things. I feel more free when I am in Thailand than I ever do in the US and a lot less threatened.
