  • Life isn't as bad in the Favelas as it is made out to be.
Best not for big white gringos like me going there by myself but life is very good for many there, because it is free.
Like Thailand, just because it looks like they live in poverty don't think they are not mostly happy.
Both in Brazil and Thailand you don't really need a place to stay to survive.

There is many of these Favela houses that are made into AirBnBs now days.

If all else fails just ride your bike really fast and don't stop.

      • Well I achieve my goal of riding my bike up to Christo the Redeemer which is 700 meters above Rio. I first had to ride up to 'Mesa do Imperador' which means the Emporer's Table. Then ride down and across then up to the Christo Statue. I rode the entire thing on my bike except i had to walk the last 1km up to Christo with my bike. I could not go right up to the statue as I needed to buy a ticket and leave my bike behind. It was very cloudy up there so it was hard to see Christo.
You can see the height of Christo from these pictures in the city.

Yes i rode up there much sooner than I expected. I guess i can still try to do it without stopping to rest and not walking the last kilometer.
I am getting back into good shape and shavivng off the lockdown weight. I've probably taken off 15 lbs, or more, this month.

It is still hard to shake off the depression and anxiety from locked down and alone in Canada. There is distinct difference between Brazil and Canada and it is not just the cold. Just the acceptance that you need to live your life. People here do that but still do their best to follow the guidelines around the pandemic.
I think in Canada the Cost/Benefit analysis has gone by the wayside, even though most of our educated politicians and professionals would have taken in school.
In my mind the lockdowns are far more damaging than the virus. You lock everyone down and damage many people's lives and futures, when up to 80% of the deaths are seniors that are in bad health generally and could have been protected. This is the scam in Canada, they lock everyone down yet still fail to protect the seniors.

I'm pretty sure that every day 80% of the deaths are ill seniors, this is the cycle of life. There has not been significantly more deaths on earth this year than usual....

Anyways coming to Brazil has not been exactly what I expected but i'm starting to feel better. I'm not really that motivated to chase TS right now but I am also still looking at what is available which is substantially different than Thailand. In my weakened state I am not as interested aggressive tgirls as I normally would be and this is more how it is here. In reality I need the soothing feeling of a Thailand GFE, something that is fairly unique in the world. Most other countries are straight up sex for money.
The hourly rates between Brazil and Thailand for escorts is about the same but in Brazil if you want long time you will pay. That TS in the pictures has a nice ass and is lots of fun but she will empty my bank account in no time without worry. However this is Rio which is probably filthy with high rollers in regular times.

Probably if it was safer to travel there would be more variety in other parts of Brazil and more down home type TS. Here is Rio big and brash seems to be the style.
That is the other problem at the beach is that almost every Brazilian guy is totally ripped it seems. So being over weight is even worse here, but soon I hope to remedy that and at least not have a gut. The longer i stay and the more I get settled and feel in shape, the more I am starting to feel like normal. I don't even mind wearing a mask if I can still do everything. Going out to parties with my friends was fun but I'm not really into that rave/party scene anymore.

I may be here longer since Air Canada started changing my flights again, my itinerary has had about 25 updates since I purchased it. I may have to make a border run somewhere to extend my Visa past 90 days. If I leave and come back I should get another 90 days, then maybe I can avoid the Covid Prisons in Canada.

Hopefully I can get my mojo back soon. Just relaxing helps.

            • Congrats on achieving that biking milestone
There is a lot to be said about being in a place where one can just chill and relax just about everyday...sunshine,crashing waves and a cold brew are one of my favorite recipes...Oh yeh...and a fine looking ladyboy ...LOL

              • Yes, lockdowns were absolutely not the way to go. I think the lockdowns caused more ill health than they prevented. The border issue really sucks ! I've had my shots. Let me in !! Do you think crime and danger to your personal safety in Brazil is better or worse than Thailand ?

                • The situation in Rio is getting more locked down. A couple weeks ago they closed all beaches services including bars and restaurants but left the beach open.
Now they have closed the beaches but left the beach services open. There is not proof the beaches are causing any spread but they are closing beaches all over Brazil and especially with more socialist leaning governments.

The Covid cases are totally spiking in Brazil when they are dropping and dropping in every other country. It just does not seem real and probably isn't.
I have not seen or heard of anyone who is sick recently while I know many that had the virus last year. Almost every business has temperature checks and never have i seen anyone turned away or seen anyone looking sick anywhere.
They are desparately trying to take out the right wing President who believes people should live their lives.
I hope at some point people here start catching on to this. They don't show proof of anything they just say respiratory infections in the hospital are increasing.
Every available new you seem to find on the internet claims how desparate it is here and publishes all sorts of things that don't make much sense.

One thing I just saw is that they say that only 50% of those intubated in Brazil survive, where the world average is 80%. They don't provide any real facts just some statement like this. If true this just points to the medical care in Brazil being inferior, i'm not sure how covid could be more serious other than people are not as healthy.
I personally think Brazil has good herd immunity and it makes no sense that the numbers here are the opposite of everywhere else in the world.
Mostly it is just the President here is even more hated than Trump by the opposition, they would do anything to take him down.
Problem is that Brazil is even more democratic than the USA. Stealing elections is not as easy because everyone must vote in person and they are required to vote by law. There is no random mail in voting. Elections are very tamper proof compared to many countries.

As far as safetly goes, it is not as safe as Thailand. Here there is more gangs and a machismo attitude among men which is not the case in Thailand so much.
Street crime is usually pretty high around Brazil in the form of pickpocketing and some muggings but they tend to target women and weaker people. Since there is not many tourist around now, the crime is also down. I am bigger than most people here so they are less likely to take me on as most of the bandits are young punks and they would need several of them to take me down. However I would probably seriously hurt some of them in the struggle. They may pull a knife or weapon but may hesitate to actually use it because they don't want to go to prison in Brazil.

They are more likely to trying and steal your phone or rip you off in some other way. It is common for them to snatch phones right from you hand on the street.
In Copacabana one morning i was having breakfast by the beach and saw some guy on a bicycle try and snatch a guys phone right out of his hand.
A couple times when biking I have been alone in a remote area around some younger guys and I could see them checking out my phone and stuff. Usually I get out of there right away when they start looking at me this way.

I have almost never felt scared in Thailand and I have walked all over Bangkok alone at all hours.
                  Brazil is certainly more dangerous.

I think I will have to move it to 2022, maybe March; I have booked a flight to BKK for November 14th, 2 weeks. I will have my shots by May end, thanks to Boris. God I miss those cocks.

I'm not worried and will be around next year. I will not be in Brazil by then I'm sure.

The covid numbers here partly political, so it is hard to take the numbers on their face. The numbers probably won't go down much until they get rid of the President.
The pandemic is very political and finanically motivated now. Millions got cheques and they want more. Hospitals get paid for positive patients. Politicians want to make the Federal Admiistration look bad.

Also the population of the state or Rio De Janeiro is 17,366,189.
Thousands of people die all the time.

If you are trying to say I might die. There is a 99.8% survival rate.
I have not seen one sick person and no one I know has known anyone actually sick with covid since last year.
I have seen thousands upon thousands of people have their temperatures checked and not one high fever yet.

Brazil is probably jacking their numbers up on purpose, while Thailand is probably keeping their down on purpose.
In Thailand the government wants to look like they are the heros of the day.

I see people in their cars wearing masks. Other people outside running or walking wearing a mask. When I am running and I see other people approaching I move to the other side of the street to keep my distance but I am not wearing a mask while I am out running. This is ridiculous.

I was mainly referring to the hilariousness of telling everyone to 'Wear Mascara', given the English translation.

In Canada i never wore a mask outside and in Brazil i only wear a mask to go into buildings.
I don't move out of the way but I give others their space as required. I only need enought room to walk, i am not scared of a bunch of made up panic.

Everyone here wears mask so much it is amost ridiculous comedy.
The entire archive of scientific information from the past tells us that viruses don't really spread outside, especially if it it hot and windy.
Viruses cannot survive with direct contact from the sun generally, unless you are in very close quarters like at some stupid protest.

Now with this virus they have not proven where it comes from other than some studies saying it comes from the home.

There is nothing linking the virus to beaches or anything outdoors yet this is always the focus.
When I am out riding my bike here people are scared to death of getting the virus in +33 Celsius tempatures and a strong wind from the ocean.
Common sense says it just won't happen. If they never do or release any actual studies on Covid are we to believe it just lives everywhere all the time?

Everything is sanitzed and everyone panics over everything they touch. Past science tells us these viruses don't live long away from humans.
Somehow this virus can be tranferred anywhere anytime any place even if you have a vaccine and all the treatments available.

Somehow they have sown panic so deep that no one can even use logic anymore.

Even at my age the chances of me dying or even getting sick from the virus are extremely low and a chance I am willng to take because of that.

You are avoiding people while vaccinated and after suffering a previouis dose of the virus and surviving.
Sorry to say it but they have made you manic, I know i is subconcience but what are you actually afraid of?
There is no reason for you to be afraid.
Is it that someones grandma somewhere sometime might die because of your actions?

I'm surprised the monkeys in the jungle here aren't masked up.....
This guy was breathing all over me and spitting too I think.....
Is he not responsible for all other life on earth also, like I am supposed to be?

                              • I am not afraid of other people giving me Covid. Been there done that. The problem is other people don’t know that I probably can’t get it from them or give it to them. Everyone is a suspect even though you know that there is not a problem.

I give people their distance at this point just as a sign of respect. Once I actually said that I was vaccinated and the other person laughed and said me too. There we were giving each other social distance!
