(jaymee @ Nov. 06 2008,12:20) Socialism sounds extremely taboo - yes - who can forget Hitler.
That analogy is wrong. Hitler wasnt a Socialist by any degree, he stuck the word in his parties name to attract the working class vote..the same reason he stuck the Red in the flag

Just read Mein Kampf, it will soon dispel any ideas that he was a Socialist

Sorry , just had to clear that up, my old History teacher will be rolling in his grave otherwise
Hitler socialist?? Please, jaymee, you shouldn´t have skipped history lessons.

America= Socialist... maybe in 60 years time but not now, the word is being twisted beyond its meaning.IMO. I dont care for Obama but hes obviously not a Socialist. I doubt if the free enterprise system will be dismantled in the next four years...

        Post Election Market Blues

Now that Barack Obama has won the U.S. presidency, investors are wondering whether markets are heading on a crash course with socialism. William Smith, senior portfolio manager at SAM Advisors, David Roche, global strategist at Independent Strategy Ltd and Daryl Guppy, CEO of Guppytraders.com discuss the direction of U.S. markets with CNBC's Martin Soong.

Sigh I'm not well read enough on that area?

I always assumed Hitler was socialist - though he sought to distance himself from marxist socialism by highlighting his brand as the true form.

*goes to read wikipedia to refresh.

Hitler was a "National" Socialist....Right Wing. At the opposite end of the political spectrum to Marx. Equality is not on the agenda in any shape or form. National Socialism preaches that we are Un equal.

I doubt if Obama will be taking on any of his ideas

(strocube @ Nov. 06 2008,12:20) I'm just terrified that maybe this country will go the way of Sweden or Canada--the horror.
Huh? I was agreeing totally with your post til i reached this?

What do you wish for then? An ex-commie, noveau rich eastern country that just found capitalism, run by the maffia, a perfect example of  the evils of capitalism ?

I agree with your post, but something tells me you haven´t been in Canada or Sweden. Hell, this type of argument belongs to the nazi.., sorry, rightwing in the US.
              Dude, IRONY!
I meant exactly the opposite of what I wrote.
