  • Canada's Hockey Hero Don Cherry fired

So the cancel culture got Canadian Hockey Legend Don Cherry.
85 year old Cherry made comment scolding people for not wearing poppies. While he didn't spell it out most assumed he was speaking about immigrants.
He has been a host on Hockey Night in Canada on the CBC network for 38 years and has said many things more controversial than this. He is also known for his surly demeanor and sometimes remarks that are not politically correct, so statements like this were not unexpected. However in today's culture there is no tolerance for anything or anyone that may be slightly offensive even though he has been this way for decades. Now he is sexist, racist, xenophobic and outright evil person. He got fired for something that was barely offensive to most people and something that one might expect from this man. He refused to apologize as he didn't feel he said anything wrong.

Cherry is known for being the coach of the National Hockey leagues Boston Bruins and a long time minor league hockey coach. He has been a contributor and host on hockey broadcasts for over 4 decades. He is a rough around the edges guy who really liked the days when hockey was tough and full of fighting and physical contact. He used to put out a series of very popular videos called "Rock'em Sock'em Hockey" which was big hits and fight excerpts from various hockey games.

Today's politically correct assholes are ruining everything. This guy was fine for 40 years but now he is offensive, when he is no more controversial than he ever was and most of the reason why people watch him. He says it like he is.

Another ridiculous railroad job on a long time Canadian favorite.

Here is the incident, notice how the politically correct metro sexual hosts just chop him to bits even though it isn't really that offensive.
I suspect you would never catch these guys watching hockey....

Cherry appeared on Fox News in the USA to tell his story and the host did not understand why he was fired for such inoffensive comments.
After the video there is analysis by some wingnut saying how Cherry is some kind of right wing hero who is active in politics, which is not even true.

This article from a free Toronto newspaper makes me sick to my stomach and shows you the terrible situation in Canada in regards to free speech.
This left wing rag read so much hate and innuendo in to some comments that were well intentioned by an old white man.
If Don Cherry is right to assume that more white people wear Remembrance Day poppies than immigrants or people of colour, then what does that say about the poppy?

Here is one of his awesome rock'em sock'em hockey videos
    watch out they are addictive.

Don Cherry is a Canadian hockey institution, however at 85, I feel the peak of his time has passed, and he probably should think about a well deserved retirement. While rock em, sock em hockey was definitely the popular and prevalent style of play 40-20 years ago, now this has changed as more information about injuries and concussion syndrome have come about.

As for the comments that got him fired - his observations were correct, but his phrasing of "you people" definitely got him into hot water. It should be noted that poppy observance (sales and wearing one) have declined over the past 10 years. Some automatically assumed Don Cherry meant immigrants when he said that - but in reality a wide spectrum of Canadians have stopped the practice. If he left out the latter part of his statement of "you people", it would have not been open to misinterpretation.

I don't think he will get a job on Fox News, as rarely spend much time on Canadian issues, unless it is related to US interests.

Well it is just pretty sad that classic institutions like Don Cherry have to go out in shame these days.
What he said just isn't that bad and even a few years ago no one would have cared.
Now old white men are evil and can do or say nothing right.

Even classics like Rock'em sock'em hockey are taboo cause someone might get hurt.
Most players that have serious problems refused to quit even though they knew the risks.
Sydney Crosby and others shouldn't even be on the ice according to most standards.
Hopefully hockey, boxing and football are not completely cancelled.

I hate our bubble wrap and politically correct new society. it is awful.
Plus all the people screaming racism are all racists themselves, against white people these days.
These people will pine for those days once our Chinese overlords take over officially.

The new generation is brainwashed. They have never seen hardship and they think stuff like this is really bad.
They have never see really bad, which is the problem.
The veterans that Cherry speaks of faced down real evil and won. Everything was at stake, not just a couple people's feelings.
Most people took it the right way, just everyone these days is programmed to take every thing the wrong way.

So to me it is so stupid that this guy that has said worse things hundreds of times in the past but now it is wrong.
Now they will probably go through all his old clips and say how bad he was all along.
In the old days if you didn't like something you just didn't watch it, now it is watched by people that hate it in the hopes he will say something that offends them.
If you look for hate everywhere you will find it.

Everyone knew what he meant but had to take him down anyway.
      Just sad.
