  • Internet connection in Thailand

    Hi All,

I am pretty sure I have read somewhere that when you are in Thailand you don't have access to sites such as the LadyBoy Forums, the sites being blocked ?? If true (hopefully not), is there a way to bypass this problem?

As my trip approaches rapidly, I want to ensure that I will have access to this great source of info that this site is.

    Thanks

    B.

You may need to get a VPN to access all sites. theladyboyforums was not blocked when i was there but many outside porn and other political sites are blocked.
I'm using one right now at a ski resort because they block porn and this site.
Check this thread, BAM can probably set you up with something if you contact him.
If you need a VPN to keep your internet browsing secure, visit this site: You can also use it to view web pages blocked in your home country and access region

That was quick Crag!!! Thank you! Have access to this site is a "must" since I'll be a first timer in Thailand.

Ha ha, you just caught me before i went skiing.

I had no problem accessing the forum when I was there but some hotels may have different systems or the government could start blocking it at any time.
The VPN is good as you just don't know what they will block these days.

I use Private Internet Access. Having a VPN is also useful for many other reasons in Asia. In China you can't access Facebook or Google without a VPN. Also, many places (airports for instance) don't allow you to access certain non-pornographic sites. Plus, you can't access many services like Pandora or Spotify. A VPN gets around all that stuff.

I couldn't access any adult sites including this site when I was at ski resorts recently. I have to have a VPN to make sure I can access my own sites these days.
Also Air Canada lounge blocks alot of stuff.

They are lots now in Thailand with BBL, True and others, with regards to playing iplayer you may require a VPN to get it but also look to download THAI TV an apps on your iphone which will give you a selection of English speaking TV BBC NEWS, BBC World News, CNN and a few others.

Look to getting cable in as a cheaper option to Satellite all the locals will know where to get it will give you a shit load of TV I use the Astro Chanel from Malaysia.

Do you remember I complained about 2-3 years ago I couldn't get TheLadyboyForums.com in Pattaya. Turns out I made a mistake and typed TheLadyboyForum.com with no "s". See if this helps.

Thailand Internet is POS. Dictatorship. Difficult to even sent pictures by email. Skimpy low MB memory by online companies explaining they are fighting terrorism? this is what sniffles commerce. Thank God for the first Amendment in America. How is it in Europe?
