Its all a bunch of Inflated Bullshit.   Even when there are some truths,  it won't effect the Markets for nearly Five years anyhow.   Plenty of time to plan compensation strategies.

True cause and effect in the markests today,  doesn't hit home for years.   What happens in tommaros markets will only effect Consumer Confiedence,  Not value of  Gold.   And Shares can always be sold at anytime anyhow.

28.5 baht to the Aussie, been close to that for a while now. 78.5 CENTS to the yank doller and creeping higher every day.

A year or two ago, one guy I know here converted his US dollars to Euros before leaving the states and then used the Euros to exchange for Baht. He said it ended up being enough more Baht for the original US dollar to make it worthwhile.
I never studied it close enough to see if it were true. Anyone else ever try or look into such a strategy?

Well if you bought Euro's when it first came out with USD....held it for about 10 months then you could have made a 50% profit round about or bought Bhat a few years ago made a small profit that way too.  Bottom line is one can trade currency and make profits if your timing is right and you have a longer horizon.  Meaning a few months to years to swap currency.

Buying Euros the day you leave America will just cost you another commision. Or worse. I've notcied that airports in the USA have horrible exchnage rates.

If you hate the dollar leave the country you Commie. Love it or leave it as my Uncle Joe used to say.

Seriously, there are mutual funds where you can speculate on the dollar's decline against the Euro or other major currenciies, but not the baht.

You could have bought 1000 Euros for only 830 USD.....
Now It would cost you 1320 USD to get 1000 Euros....
If your timing was right you would have made more than a 50 % gain and that can be done of any currency.

PD is right that you should Index in a fund to be safe but risk eguals a better reward

Bhat is now near 34 per USD.
What is wrong here with the USD vs the Bhat??
By the time I get back it will be near 30 Bhat per USD

I was in JFK airport today and stopped by to check out the exchange rate it was 30 bhat to the dollar. I 'm not sure if they also charge a commision on top of that. Speculation aside when traveling to Thailand:
1- is it better to exchange your dollars in the us or wait to you get to LOS?
2- is it good to carry us dollars with you for your thai purchases, in other words will i get a better price if i pay in dollars?
3- do LBs have any preference dollars or bhat?
4- Where in thailand do you get the best rate, hotel, bank, combio, merchant or some place else?

Never exchange your currency for Thai Baht before you get to Thailand! You get terrible rates!

The exchange rate for Baht to USD as quoted from Bangkok Bank today is 35.39 - so the JFK exchange there is giving you 5 Baht less per dollar!

You will not get better rates by paying in USD, because the merchant, bargirl, lb or escort has to exchange the USD in the bank and will only get what the bank's posted exchange rate is.

Do not change your money at a hotel, as they will give you less as well.

There are official money changers everywhere there are tourists - the rate is almost the same for all of them, probably varying about 1 or 2 Baht at the most.

These money changing booths are usually associated with Thai banks.

You can also use your home bank ATM card to withdraw money as well. Check with your bank before you travel to determine what additional fees they charge for withdrawal from a foreign ATM, and their "fee" for the foreign exchange rate.

                            Enjoy your trip to LOS!
