  • Glad I don't live there.

It's already too late to do anything about this. Too too many cars. Soon Pattaya is next? Smog was there when I left December 23. Worries me if Songkran will be like this as we near summer. Pray you didn't buy any real estate and move there.

PM orders state agencies to end Bangkok air pollution. Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha has asked related agencies to mitigate the impact

I live in BKK 4 months each year...the rest of the time I'm based near Chicago,USA...when the snow starts falling I usually go to Thailand until it seems to have stopped...I happen to love big cities and have also lived in Paris and L.A....traffic sucks in all 3 places but I've just resigned myself that it will take an hour to get someplace 10 miles away...Paris has great mass-transit,L.A. doesn't,BKK is not bad and getting better every year...I enjoy the buzz and energy that 7-12 million people create when kinda packed together...it's not everyone's cup of tea though...just my 2 cents

As far as I can remember there has always been heavy traffic in all of Asia when I started traveling there in 1972. I wasn't in VM because I was 4F. Lucky. Hate to shoot people who look like me. Would never have forgiven myself.

Look at this website. There was smog in LA even when I was born. Better enjoy the world now. It is getting even worse. Even the people. The world is getting more and more racist and selfish. Thailand seems to have much less of it. Gotta enjoy this wonderful paradise before I expire. Have seen a few invalid white men in wheel chairs with young happy Thai girls to care for them. Witnessed them in Central Festival. Thought they were married. With things so cheap it can't be hard to find some cute chicks and just train them to be your personal nurses.
Just leave them a nice monetary gift when you leave.

I hear the medical care in Bangkok's Bumrungrad Hospital is good. Went to Yangee Hospital for surgical removal of my lower eye lid bags. Reminds me of a veterinary clinic. Saw lotsof cute Thai nurses just wasting time happily chatting with each other. Even got a cute young gal on roller skates delivering messages and mail. Service was very efficient and friendly. Yangee is famous for breast implants and sex change surgery. Didn't see any ladyboys but there were a few gals undergoing nose jobs. Only saw white bandages covering their noses with some bluish bruising around it the peripheral area. Wish I could watch their surgeons because I am one.

A piece of advice. If you need drugs you don't really need a doctor's signed prescription. I have been able to get Ampicillin 500 mg and Cipro from the pharmacies easy. Even got pre-Diabetes Metformin, Anti-cholesterol Lipitor, diuretic Lasix, Tamulosin (prostate) pills without any problems. They know how to match the American names with their Thai products. Just costs a bit more. So if you get venereal diseases or skin infections you can just tell them what your problem is, and they will select your need. Good to beat the American system of getting a doctor's approval for drugs. That's extortion.

If you go there, you will be treated like a king. Get a good insurance. They make bills for kings too.

Will visit the Pattaya Hospital to see if they can give me steroid/pain killer shots IM for my lumbar back and neck aches and pains. My pain specialist wants to Jew me by making me come in three times for back, shoulder, and neck shots at US$130 per. Hope a doctor in Thailand's hospitals can do all three areas in one visit. Seems my health insurance covers treatment in Bumrungrad Hospital in Bangkok (walking distance form Nana Plaza) and Pattaya Hospital. Good.

Bumrungrad Hospital is better than Pattaya Hospital, if you can wait. Most of the doctors at Bumrungrad are board certified from the US or other western countries.

I had to go to Burumgrad 3 years and half ago. This is a top quality hospital. I had been sent to the right department rapidly and the welcome was royal. I wish ladyboys be inspired by the Burumgrad's staff politeness.

Will visit Thailand next November. Wonder if they have a long appointment waiting period like here in Honolulu. Will I be able to get my intramuscular pain and steroid shots the same day or within a week's stay in BKK? Thanks for the tip. Thailand is a great place for medical services. Got my teeth whitened in Pattaya South Road and my lower eyelid bags surgically removed at Yangee Hospital. My hotel receptionist quickly referred me there as it was supposed to be the best for cosmetic surgery. Didn't see any ladyboys there but lots of foreign young women there for nose jobs and face lifts. Got one cute Thai young girl in roller skates going round and round picking up and delivering notes. Funny to watch. Awfully cute nurses. Lots of them, and they are so happy and smiling. Once I got on a baht bus in Pattaya and a European gentleman was so happy to be able to afford a tooth extraction there. His face was swolllen on one side. They gave him pain killers and antibiotics. I wonder if Bumrungrad will Rx me some Vicodin (Hydrocodone) for my entire 2-month vacation. Right now in America the forking DEA changed the rules again. I can get only a month's supply and must pay a doctor's visit every month! My pain specialist will inject only my lower back and not my neck area and shoulder. I must return two more times for them at $130.00 co-payment each! Fork the DEA, really.

Last Sunday 60 minutes aired a report about China's fentanyl manufacturer and selling online. They mail it to Americans. Yes, some die. To tell you the truth the DEA is the one who is guilty of creating this opiod epidemic. By restricting good American's real need for medication for their real pain they are now desperate for some pain relief and will buy drugs on the black market just like junkies. China is only too willing to profit off our dumb government's problem solving responsibilities. These products are impure and they will die by overdosage. Now that we have to visit our doctors every month we cannot afford our medical needs. I paid $30 for an OV and $50 for 60 pills. Would you like to do this every month. This business of suing the drug companies is wrong. To inconvenient EVERYBODY to save us from ourselves is STUPID BULL SHIT. We huge numbers of war babies are now aging and we need pain relief. This dirtying of the word opiod is a DEA scam. What they should have done is get off their lazyboy chairs and seek out the doctors and their pill mills and shut them down. Lst week they did shut a doctor and his pill mill being run by his family members on the Big Island of Hawaii. Same place a huge volcane destroyed a community of homes at the southern tip of this island. Before that a community of Puna was covered with hot lava. They don't need to criminalize the entire nation. Stop throwing out the baby with the bathwater. The drug companies are wonderful to manufacture opiods and sell them to us. They are the heroes who will fill a need. The DEA is stupid, stupid, and stupid.

Anybody ever try to fill a prescription for Vicodin in Thailand? Is it just a standard office visit and fill a prescription in the hospital pharmacy? Or are they now copying the stupid American solution? I have always carried my Vicodin supply with me. I count them and make sure I eat all of them by my return departure time. Hate the customs stupid questions and refusal to acknowledge that it is in a pharmacy container with the pharmacy's name. Bet you they won't even call my doctor if I gave them my name. So what I will do from now on is carry a doctor's letter acknowledging my drug is legit. Fork the customs. They love to steal anything just because they are jealous I'm traveling while they are stuck working.

Interesting comments, George. Canada is getting a tad silly with prescription medications though not as bad as Stateside.

When in November are you looking at going yo Thailand. I was there in January 2018 and want to go back. Was only in BKK and really liked the vibe of the city.

A day in the life of Bangkok. Thai girls know they are the most beautiful girls in Asia and love to flaunt it. Watch.

Definitely will take a walk in the Klong Tan Nuea, Klong Tan, and Klong Toei areas. Didn't know it was only 2 stops east of the Asoke station. Will take my GoPros.

Dear Bigmtsl, November to January is the sweet spot to visit Thailand. Should be cool until4 March. Love the shopping sales around and after Christmas time when 50% discounts pop up everywhere. I like the tourist crowds especially taking pictures of them at the Jatujak Flea Market. Easy to get to via the Skytrain to Mo Chit. More Isaan boys and girls come down to BKK and Pattaya for the Christmas vacation to make some money. If you want cheap but modern accommodations try On8 Hotel at the corner of Sukhumvit and Soi 8 in Bangkok. Around $50. You can google this place or find them and make reservations at Agoda.com. For Pattaya I love the Sunshine Hotel on Soi 8. Right at ground zero of the bars at soi 7 and 8. Lots more bars on Soi 6 which is not next to Soi 7. Need to catch the baht bus at the top of Soi 8 where it meets Pattaya Second Road and ride for about 2-3 kms. Tell the driver Soi 6 please. Sunshine Hotel can be reserved through Agoda.com and costs around 50-$60 per night. Google this place and look at the hotel photos. Good breakfasts every morning at 7 PM. I see lots of Europeans, few Russians and Americans, and plenty of India Indians. I like walking out the front door and seeing bars upon bars. King's Bar is right across the street. Lots of restaurants with the Pig and Whistle being my favorite for Western food. I love walking up and down Soi 7 and 8, picking up a pretty date and walking only a block back to my room. Sunshine has an outdoor restaurant with a bar and 3 swimming pools. Excellent service at the front desk with smiling girls and excellent repairmen who will fix leaking an AC and plugged up drain. Plenty of hot water and powerful AC. I always ask for 2 thick blankets. Nice firm mattress and no bedbugs. Might want to bring a little bottle of insecticide concentrate and pour it down the toilet and drains to keep the few roaches in check. I saw one only once in the 6 years I stayed there. 7-11 store is right across the street and there's two girls with a desk on the front steps who are trustworthy and handle my taxi needs quickly. I keep them nearby via LINE chat so they can insure a taxi will meet me at my arrival at Suvarnabhumi Airport. Last year my plane arrived an hour early so I had an airport handler call him and he rushed to the airport quickly. Instead of having to wheel my luggage load from the 3rd floor to the bottom to catch a taxi, he instructed my luggage carrier to whisk me to the same 3rd floor exit door where I was so happy to find a smiling driver ready with open doors and trunk hatch. I tipped the luggage guy and we were quickly on my way to Pharchara Hotel near the Nana Plaza. If you want the phone number or LINE chat address of this reliable taxi service company, just ask me. On my return trip back to Bangkok I stayed at the brand new Novotel 6 Sukhumvit Hotel for $100 a day right after Xmas. Felt so good to end my vacation in a beautiful clean and modern facility. Nana Plaza is only a hundred yard dash up the street. No problem bring my short time guests to my room. Just have the guest show her ID card like everywhere else.

Anybody have any questions I might answer, just ask. I like to help. This website has been very helpful to me. You, too, Crag, RxPharm, and everyone.
