No I don't think so, but selling is something different. I referred to the fact that there is no sexshop in Thailand.

Okay, I know to be paranoid about drugs in LOS. I even stop smoking pot days before I head over just in case I'm caught in one of those freak bar round-ups where everybody pisses into a jar.
I may be wrong here since I am no expert on this subject as I have never touched the stuff myself. However my understanding is that traces of THC can stay in your system and show up in a urine test for up to a month after the last time you smoke so maybe stopping a few days before might not be enough time

Yep it's up to 30 days since the THC sticks to your fat cells.

Something else to watch out for are eating Poppy seeds...

Eating a bagel with Poppy seeds will give you a positive result for heroin €˜opiates€™ use.

Now, am I hearing, I could be arrested for having my own toys in my own room?
          No don't worry about that...
bring your toys. It's just a grey area of the law there for 'selling' them.

Thai people have started gaining an interest in sex toys, but as the internet is there only means of discovery, and as most can't read in English, well, it's a slow process still. But we do at least have magazines now like Cosmo and Cleo that mention them occasionally.

Section 287 of The Law says that whoever:

              1. Acts on commercial purpose, trades, distributes or exposes to the public, makes produces, possesses, imports or empowers importing to the Kingdom, exports or empowers exporting out of the Kingdom, takes out or empowers taking out or publicizes in all means of any documents, drawing, printed pictures, paintings, printings, advertisements, symbols, photographs, films, cassettes, videos or other obscene items
              2. Takes or involves with trading the above-mentioned objects or items, distributes or exposes to the public or gives such items
              3. Helps publicize, or trades the above-mentioned obscene items, advertises or informs in any means that there is an individual who engages in illegitimate acts according to this section or advertises or informs in any means that there is an individual who engages in illegitimate acts according to this section or advertises or informs that such obscene items or objects can be obtained from whom or by which means

... will be imprisoned less than three years or fined less than Baht 6,000 or imprisoned and fined.

So, guys, merely by telling you about this website, I'm in the clink ... and if any of you should wish to swap your used toys amongst each other, the brown boys will be licking their chops.

I agree with Mai-Kee though to the extent that law and enforcement are two entirely different affairs here, and at least the written law here tells me the maximum extent to which I should agree to line Sarawat's pockets if he should come knocking on my front gate once the postman has made his delivery.

Section 287 seems to be so vague it could refer to just about anything... the big question is what do they really consider to be "obscene" in Thailand? A Photo of an Elephants ass could be considered obscene for all you know.

The idea behind drafting a law, in Thailand or anywhere, is to make it as broad as possible - you can hardly expect them to draw up a list of obscene articles, can you? - why, it would be out of date in an instant!

You should take a look at the UK or USA versions - Thailand is mild by comparison, believe me. The broader the definition the broader the scope for the boys in brown, and as someone wise has already pointed out, that's the real name of the game - they don't actually want people in court facing maximum fines of only Baht 6,000 now, do they? No, this law is designed for Thailand's version of instant justice: "pay your 'fine', sir, and carry on now that I'm protecting you."

Is it really illegal for TOYS there?  Though I have never seen a single shop and do know that porno is illegal... but toys?

If someone found a way around this they would probably make a killing.
This might be the solution for selling toys in Thailand
