Is Singapore's Orchard Towers closing?

A massive redevelopment project was recently announced in Singapore to build numerous new tourist attractions. While Orchard Towers was not specifically mentioned, it would not surprise me if it is slated for the wrecking ball. A couple of lbs I know who do the Singapore circuit told me that Orchard Towers would be closing, but the time frame is not certain.

So far nothings been confirmed. But somebody did the maths and said it would be worth the while to do a redevelopment on the Orchard Towers site, given the high appreciation in values of nearby sites. The building itself dates back to the late 70s.
It's "cousin" on the East Coast, Paramount shopping centre with about 16 pubs and loads of Filipino girls has been put up for sale.

I heard OT is for "En Bloc Sale". As this is quite popular at the moment and this is Prime area it is not surprising me.

If these two places are sold and demolished to make way for new development,what other venues are there for the LB hungry masses?

This is all part of Singapore trying to bring another 2m people to live here, and targeting wealthy Indians, Chinese, and Indos to make up the numbers.

The area around OT is VERY valuable real estate, with some very up market houses and condos. I believe the feeling is that a building like OT bang in the middle of that is not going to appeal to those wealthy patrons and their families, hence the rumours of it closing.

They will find somewhere to replace it. Singapore is a very pragmatic place

The only problem is that I chose my current condo to be 5 mins from OT!!

Actually the joke would be if one of the reasons people wanted to come to Singapore was because of Orchard Towers!

Yeah, wish they had a building of bars out in Singapore where you could choose between the main four races plus the Indonesians and have short time rooms on the floor directly above the bar. The Filipinos would have the edge but some Singaporean ladyboys wouldn't be far behind in communicating with the "ang mohs".

According to the Orchard Towers notice board, this is at least two years away if it happens at all, so no need to start worrying just yet!

at $15 sing  for a beer and $250 sing  for a girl or ladyboy.............who really cares......I have only been there twice on the way to Bkk or Phuket.....

Why anybody would pay these overinflated prices for a world class ladyboy is beyond me when Thailand is only 1 hour away.......

I wish all the ladyboys all the best if they can extract $250 sing for some clown .......as they say Up to You.......

2 of my Ex favorites go to Sing occasionally and they even stooge the guy that they will stay Long Time and as soon as the guy falls asleep they sneak out of the room........
