From a friend of mine on Samui:

what there are saying in here is that those places with live music can
be open until 2am, other places must be closed down by midnight. Also what
they are saying that this idiot who is behind this idea will be killed by
the mafia sooner or later...There are places in here which are open until
5am because run by the mafia, did you know that? Also there is place which opens when the other bars are closing, the place for sure
is paying for the police because everybody knows about it!

Back in 1994 I had a bad experience at Como's Bunagalows on Big Buddha Beach in Koh Samui.
The owner of the place embezzled some of the money I had stored in my safety deposit box.
I reported this to several guidebook publishers and they deleted his business from their lists of recommended accommodation.
One publisher actually gave a detailed account of my victimization.
I don't know if Como's Bungalows is still in business. I DOUBT IT. If they are, steer clear......

Half Samui is run by the Mafia, so is Pattaya. Thaksin and his fellow suckers are either fucking brave or plain stupid:
