beware of overstays. The brown shirters are hoping on visa- run busses and checking all passports for overstays.
No problems with extensions though. Sounds like Government is revenue raising. Poker machines and casino's make more money and lot more hospitable then picking on us poor farang.

What a joke, we should all picket Thailand for awhile and let them remember who keeps the country afloat

Utter utter shite. Ignore this stupid post. More fucking retarded crap from ThaiVisa.com.

The "brownshirters" have absolutely nothing to do with immigration and wouldn't know what to do if someone marched into the copshop and admitted being a year over their visa. In fact theyed send them off to immigration!

The idea of cops hopping on border-buses is absolutely ludicrous.

If the Thai government is 'revenue raising' then why is it targeting people already on their way to the border (where they are gonna pay a 200 Baht a day fine already!)

If you want to post this kind of shit on a forum find another one.

This place is for earthlings ONLY!

If it happened, fair enough. (And I'm sorry for over-reacting to your post!)

I don't want people reading this forum to think that this is something of a habit or a 'crackdown' that is going on. Isolated cases are extremely rare. The military regularly inspect the buses going on the border runs, but they almost never target farangs. In fact they almost completely ignore them.

As for the 'brownshirters' stepping on the military turf - here again I find this dificult to accept. The regualr Thai police are not equipped to deal with farangs and their overstay offences.

Your case that you heard about is the only one I have come across and I called my friend Bangkok Phil and asked him and he hasn't heard anything either.

Once again - I apologise for the terse tone of the initial reply, but as regular readers know any 'ThaiVisa' style posts are gonna get a bit of a knock down...

No hard feelings, I hope. Next time you're here I'll buy you a beer!

Stogie needs a little love. He's actually taking a vacation Out of LOS to merry ol England. I'm sure in a couple of days he'll be on top of some clock tower with a carbine and a weird laugh. (just a guess)

I have been to Thailand 9 times in the last 3 years and I am getting ready to go in a month or two.
I have never had a policeman or military man even talk to me except at the American Embassy (that is almost a year of living there!)
Not doubting the post, just think is is rare, rare thing
