just researching a bit. also trying to save as much money as possible so i don't have to work. since money not's the prime factor, i'd like to teach on a university campus, wear the thai equivalent of tweed jackets and drink lattes with the faculty.

some guy on another board said it was not a good idea to play internet poker in the LOS but that it's legal in the PI. anyone know about the legality?

My best friend in Thailand, Phil, runs Ajarn.com. The best jobs don't get posted and usually get emailed to me and his mates for first refusal! (But I never told you that!)

Anyone can get these jobs. That's not the law, but it is the practice!

With the new 2006 year - several schools in Thailand are seeking teachers....

The Bell International Trust Schools are now seeking teachers for 2006 .....and their pay and employee benefits offered appear very good....
If interested....or you know a qualified teacher wishing to relocate to Thailand or - if in Thailand seek to improve their position/salary...please see:

Great discussion! Have been entertaining thoughts of a career change like this myself. Thanks for all of the useful links. One cannot have enough good research and opinions for a decision like this.

What about short-time (no pun intended) teaching opportunities as private tutors or conversation partners? A buddy of mine in Osaka ran a private tutoring school that used visiting Americans are conversation partners on a short-term basis for as little as 2-3 weeks. I think he charged $20 (a bargain over there) per hour and split it with the American. I'm not sure if something like this exists in LOS, but if it did it would be a great way to kill time during the day.
I'm a rough-ridin', hootin' and hollerin', ladyboy lovin' cowboy! Bang bang yer dead!!!
