  • Do you get cramps?

    I wake up about Four or five times a night with cramps in my calfs. Its almost like clock work;
    230am, 330am, 400am 5am,

I am not one to do research on the internet, but what causes Cramping so much. I get everyday and it is always in my calf muscles. I never get it anywhere else only in my calfs.

Do any of you suffer from cramps on a daily basis ?

My cramps only recently started about two months ago. is this a preLude to my episode two days ago ?

Could it be Lack of water, ? ? ?

Lack of salt maybe, especially if you are sweating a lot in the LOS rooting LB's.

Occasionally I'll get cramps in my calfs if I've been riding my bike a little more intensely than usual and if I forget to stretch enough before riding.

I was out last week down in Nana and got smiliar cramps in my legs, but I work all day on my feet too.
I walked into Guess Bar and damn near fell down when the cramp happened. Joy looked at me like I lost my mind, but it was only for a second...haha. I sat down at the bar, ordered a drink and the cramp went away and it would appear every now and then as I walked during the night.
But I understand exactly what you mean though by getting them at night. They happen and boy do they wake you up. Even when they happen, best thing to do is to try and stand on it and walk the cramp off if you can.

When on holiday in LOS(or anywhere hot for that matter) the electrolyte drinks available from all pharmacies/7-11's at a cost of 5-6baht per sachet are a must to help stave off cramps and de-hydration.Take 3-4 per day mixed as closely with the recommended amount of water. The drink is supposed to be an exact match for your blood plasma and is absorbed straight into the system to put off de-hydration as once de-hydrated it can be uncomfortable and take a day or two to get over.If mixed in the wrong quantities it is dijested by the system and can take longer to work.
The sachets contain the correct mix of mineral salts that we sweat out, basically I suppose it's a concentrated sweat mix! but very important.Back to the original topic, cramp being an early symptom of de-hydration.Especiually important if doing any exersize eg gym etc.

                    Uhooo, could be diabetes

well i'll know if there is anything wrong with me friday.  For the past two days the hospital did a lot of tests on me.   Ultrasound on my Liver, stomach, Kidneys,  X-rays of my Heart and Lungs,  they took five tubes of blood.

My Doctor is basing these tests off my family history.    I know what she is Looking for even though she hasn't told me out-right.   I hope she wrong.

Maybe you need a warm up? Lol. Seriously, doesnt sound good mate. Just googled it, quote:
Vitamin deficiency is the third possible culprit. It's believed that the depleted levels involve phosphorus, magnesium, calcium, sodium and potassium.
I have the same, always played loads of sports, then when I started working it became less and less. Have been thinking to maybe start yoga, heard that will work really well (cause I am also tall).

Please don't take this as a smart-arsed reply, just trying to be helpful.I the previous post you mention vitamin deficiency, but the things you quote are all minerals eg phos, magnesium, calcium etc. which are present in sweat which we lose lots of in the heat. That is why those electrolyte sachets are so important.
I think if you actually had a severe vitamin deficiency you would have quite a serious condition like scurvy or something!
I am diabetic and am very aware of many of the health problems that 'normal' people take for granted, dehydration being easy to get due to high blood sugar levels.I don't think however that cramps etc. are signs of diabetes, the usual signs are pissing a lot, thirst.Hope to be of some help, keep those fluid levels up!

without much in the way of any details of your lifestyle,ie: your work enviroment(if u have one) your eating and drinking habits and most important your excerise habits( or lack of them?) most people never bother with any sort of excercise fitness maintenance and expect their bodies to take care of themselves. muscle cramp can occur because of many number of factors.without finding out what causes these ,do not just pump quantaties of a substance such as water or salt etc etc into your body you may cause more problems than solve im sure the doctors have allready told you this.. ......... good luck with the hospital and results,we all wish you well.
