I picked Green Bay even though the Pats and Colts were available to me.

There is a greater chance of being eliminated this week by picking the Packers rather than the Colts or Pats but it's not about surviving the week.  It's about winning the pool.

Lets's say either the Pats or Colts lose.  There's about a 25% chance that at least one of these teams will lose.  Let's say it's the Colts.

Then in a future week when everyone else is on some other team, I pick the Pats.  If the Pats win for me and the other team loses then the pool is down to only a few contestants.
