  • Credit Card problems

Does anyone have problems trying to join sites such as LB69 or ladyboy ladyboy.

Have a new card and it will not go though.

No problems for anything else but no ladyboy sites.

Is Visa and mastercard telling me something.

In my experience it's one of two things.

More recently it's been the banks own anti-fraud systems which block some card transactions almost routinely.
When I've called to sort it out they have always assured me it doesn't cause any inconvenience!

But I have also found that some US companies have problems processing UK cards  -  apparently something to do with their computer software.
Often the only answer is for them to pick up the phone and call the issuer direct.
Unfortunately some companies seem to view this as a physical impossibility  -  maybe they don't have telephones in the US?

Can you not call your issuer and have them remove the block?

It's there to prevent card fraud but if they know you are staying there then they could allow transactions from there.

Alternatively try using a UK proxy?

I have a card that is famous for doing that at the most inconvenient times but they are trying to protect me from fraud. They've even cut me off when I bought a bunch of postage from the USPS site. I just call them and tell them it is legit and then all is well.

I work with 4 different CC systems on my sites, here is what I know:

Chargebacks are a real pain in the ass for acquirers. Every chargeback is almost guaranteed to have some level of manual processing, so there is a 5 to 15% change it will cause further errors because of faulty data entry.

Chargebacks are charged a lot to the acquirer's client (i.e. merchants), the charge is between 15 and 50 EUR per case.

Chargebacks degrade the marchant's rating with the acquirer and with the CC network Visa and Mastercard.
Ultimately, the acquirer's rating with Visa and MC gets hit too.
One must know that at the end of every CC processing, there is a bank.
And CC business means a lot to a bank, so these banks are pretty paranoid about protecting their CC business and will pass scores of unnecessarily restrictive policies down to their attached payment processors.

Moreover, many acquiring companies are under pressure, because 2 or 3 years ago, Visa and MC stopped the practice of thrid party billing, meaning holders of merchant accounts could no longer bill for third parties, but were only allowed to bill for the business they declared to MC/Visa.

Most adult businesses use third party billing.
Obviously they made some exceptions for CCBill and other heavyweights, but caused a hard time for smaller payment processors.
But this explains why adult business was hit hard.

Many third-party payment processors use legal tricks to continue their business.
Some for example, sign a contract with the merchant, stating that they non-exclusively "rent" the content form the merchant, and sell it to the merchant's customers as being the payment processor's own content, and repay the marchant the "rent".
This has the advantage that the merchant does not need a CC merchant account.

The fear of chargebacks and problems also explains why CCBill and other comparable companies want to exercise a paranoid iron grip of total control over the Adult site's contents - they want to control the users, passwords, the access to the member areas, etc.

This is something I do not allow them to do.
These are only my payment providers, their work is not to manage my members' passwords or check the content of my site - they must just receive my clients along with a reference and the sum to pay, and send me back confirmations, and must be able to process recurring billing. That's it.

And I do have some success with that strategy - in 10 years of existence and among thousands of transactions, I had only 2 chargebacks.

Anyway - I digressed - all this fear of chargeback caused the payment processors to implement draconian security features on credit card payments.

Here is a few I know:

                - IP check: they don't like payments from russia, thailand, puerto rico, nigeria, brasil etc.
=> this check can sometimes be requested disabled by the merchant

                - IP check combined with Issuing Country of CC:
=> if the IP does not belong to the IP-Range assigned to the country where the CC was issued, this check fails
This has impacted my business heavily, because brasilian escorts using brasilian CC abroad could not pay their ad on my site

                - Check IP location against delivery address / billing address

                - Client name and Cardholder's name: some processors will block transactions where the recipient of bought wares is not the same as the cardholder
=> this one is particularly stupid, gifts anyone?

                - AVS (address verification system): this one is stupid too, it checks if the address behind the CC is the same as the delivery address for goods...

                - IP check against SPAM-Lists or Anonymous Proxy lists

                - Free email accounts: some processors decline those ??

Some of the above do make sense incase your business is selling physical goods.

For the majority of porn-webmasters selling virtual goods, it is just a question of finding the optimal mix between revenue and chargebacks.

I use a Visa card for all my online subscriptions. The only time I have had problems is when I have mis-typed the details (which is often!). I do not use this card for anything else, so I guess the issuer is used to my spending pattern by now.

I am always paranoid about not being able to cancel, so as a rule of thumb, I only take out a recurring subscription if it's with CCBill, as it's dead easy to cancel. I've also occasionally had an access problem, and they have always been quick to sort it out.

                          Manarak,
Thanks for the info...i guess i follow what you are saying.

Just spoke to my bank and they basically said "Tough"

They know i live in LOS and even have my number if they wanna check, but they don't cos they have to drop the dime.

I will if possible pay in other ways (No Seamus not in kind)...possibly get into BK and fork over cash or whatever but it pisses me off that i have a good credit rating and stll because i am in LOS get stuffed...Hotels, Meals, Massages no problem but mention a ladyboy site and Whoooaaa >>>REJECT.

So for all you site owners if you want members dont rely on CC's from another country...but WTF i am Welsh so maybe i cant pay in beads anymore...

Thanks for all the info from you guys....

thpon, there may be another way, if you can use a vpn (virtual private network), your transaction will appear that it is taking place in another country (for instance, USA, Canada, UK, etc.).

There are some subscription VPNs, as I use one to access the forum from an Arabian Gulf country.
