private sub forum

I just wonder if there is a way of creating a "discussion group" or some kind of a private sub forum. I have posted a few posts in another forum and they added recently the possibility to create a "club", that is a like a private sub forum administered and moderated by the BM who created it. It can be either "public" (anyone can see and post) or "closed" (BMs must request before being admitted to read and post). Admins keep a control on it of course. I'd like to use the possibility in this forum if it exists here.
