    From todays The Nation

"Police bust swinging party, arrest 13 foreign men

Police raided a swinging party in a Bangkok hotel late Wednesday night and arrested 13 foreign men, seven Thai women and three foreign women.

The raid took place at 0:15 am Thursday at the Elizabeth Hotel on Praditpat Road in Samsen district.

Police also arrested a couple - Christian Richards and his Thai wife, for allegedly organising the swinging sex tour.

When police raided the room No 1101 on the 11th floor of the hotel, police found several couples were having sex in the same room while others were drinking and dancing.

Police found used condoms, lubricant gel, porno books and CDs and 30 pills of Viagra.

Not that I partake in this kind of thing but since when has this been illegal?

just an example of farang stupidity,it may seem a bit odd but thailand dosnt want this sort of thing going on especially if hi vis, think about it, it does have a hard stance against drugs ,pornography and certain matters of cultural respect etc and rightly so i happen to agree with them, the prostitution matter is a whole different ballgame as we know and they do, this generates much employment, tourism and money and is not something they can realistically stop.

"stupid" farangs should respect thailand,s sometimes quirky ways a bit more when there, for instance the public groping and kissing bare cheasted freaks that ive seen on BKK streets make me puke they show no respect for the basics of thai culture and seem insistent on trying to turn BKK into Benidorm next, deckhairs on SUK and hankies on heads...they should fuck off back home.

the stupididity of these people is so obvious,if they wanted an orgy then they should have gone and rented a descrete house outside bkk, mayby HuaHin,doing it in a hotel room where theres possibly thai guest staying in room next door is just sheer mindless and askin to be raided.

        I'm with that pinko, robbo...

Only the very stupid will have been caught having a perfectly innocent sex party.

I'll bet they were arrested for disturbing the peace after they got loud or drunk or both after their poor suffering neighbors complained about the noise.

I always thought "swinging" was a perfectly innocent & harmless pursuit.

Reading between the lines this was an illegal business run by a foreigner is why it was targeted. They already knew in advance about his web site and tour package. Keep in mind foreigners engaged in prostituion in Pattaya are busted and that makes the paper too. When is the last time you saw news of a thai busted for prostitution in Pattaya? So the explanation seems simple enough.

I agree. The guy was even advertising on craiglist and likely on other websites, like AFF and so on. I also would think that they were charging $$ for single guys to join in, and likely involved in sale and consumption of illegal substances.

Now, it's true that police in Thailand are a bunch of nasty, fucked-up, dishonest suckers but they had more than one reason to make the bust, me think.

On Saturday, Big Mango bar just off Soi 4, owned by a couple of American lads, was raided by a large number of police and shut down on 'suspicion of narcotic distribution.' All charges, other than having an incorrect music license, were dropped the next day.

On Tuesday, the Post reported that 70 (!) police raided a house in the Lat Phrao area and arrested a group of Indians and Malaysians for running an internet gambling site.

On Thursday, the police raided the foreign swingers party, presumably organized by a farang, and the resulting pictures were given pride of place in most Thai newspapers.

Is it just me, or does someone else see a pattern here, too?

So what's wrong with the police protecting their business interests?

I was approached several times by both, the guy and his wife, fee for single guys were 2,500 TB. To me his attitude was a big jerk ass and it's likely someone could have been offended by his manner, especially some Thai's which could have led to phone call to a MIB friend.

With the other "events" happening, something's cooking or someone recently gotten more responsibility is trying to prove something...
