Botched Pattaya Robbery Attempt

In the early hours of Tuesday Morning, a gang of professional thieves attempted to steal money from a foreign exchange booth and 3 ATM Machines belonging to the Bangkok Bank in front of Soi 6/1 off Second Road in Central Pattaya. Alarms were activated by the intruders which prevented the theft of potentially millions of Baht. The alarm activation was initially investigated by Police who found no evidence of a disturbance and left the scene, without realizing the gang of thieves were in fact hiding inside the foreign exchange booth. It was only later in the morning when staff arrived at the booth when evidence of the attempted theft was found.

Double-whammy for Kiss Flights travellers!

Scores of holidaymakers affected by the collapse of Kiss Flights are still awaiting refunds from the failure of another travel company.

Goldtrail, which specialised in holidays to Greece and Turkey, collapsed last month, affecting as many as 50,000 travellers.

Some rebooked flights with Kiss, but that firm has also now ceased trading, leaving some holidaymakers distraught.

Now that's just plain unlucky isn't it?

I won€™t be too surprised if the cops were actually involved. Obviously the crooks knew they would trip an alarm€¦ so they per-pay off the cops to not investigate when the alarm sounded. However the crooks ran into problems of their own in cracking the safe open. Good thing the bank just upgraded the locks without telling the €˜Police€™

A guy I went to school with ended up working in a bank.

Modern ATM machines are well protected and hard to break into.
That's why the more sensible theives either steal or forge ATM cards.

The less sensible thieves steal the whole machine and crack it open with things like concrete breakers.
Only problem with that is the machines usuall have an anti-tamper system so you and the money are likely to get covered in indellible dye for your pains.

The really really stupid thieves break into exchange booths and find they can't get into the machines quickly and easily and the safe is empty.

Normally in the West the bank staff load the good notes in the ATM's and take the grotty notes and coins away with them or hand them over to an armoured car.

OK in Thailand the armoured car is normally some old bloke who shows up in a battered old Toyota.
