  • Bus from BKK to Cambodian Border...

There is a vip bus thats leaves from somewhere in Bangkok in the early morning and ends up at the Thai / Cambodia boarder. It does not leave from either bus stations. I can not remember the name of town it arrives at. There is a large clothing and central market and I remember the sign, GOLDEN GATE MARKET, with great clothes shopping, can anyone give me some road rules on travel, where in Bangkok to get bus, and the time it leaves, I know it returns in the afternoon each day.
    Thanks in advance, Speeder

There are buses that go to Aranyaprathet evey haf hour or so from Mo Chit bus station.

To get from the regular buses in Aranyaprathet to the border will be a six kilometer tuk tuk or motorcycle. I'm out of touch on the prices but I'm guessing 60 for motorbike and 100 for the bone rattler cage.

The market is a massive grubby shit hole selling second hand worn out clothes, plastic kitchen tools and fake batteries. Definitely not worth your time.

The visa buses from Jack Golf run early morning from Asok but you won't have time for the market. They wheel you in and out and they do NOT stop off for a bit of second hand clothes shopping!

I took a train 6:55 from Hua Lamphong station bkk to Aranyathprathet arriving around 11:30 a.m. No 1st or 2nd class, but the cost is a mere 48 baht, Thais are free if you want to take lb. Then caught a80 baht tuk tuk to border, be careful as they always without exeption try to take you to a travel agent for visa, so they get a cut.

I was on re-entry visa to thailand so just went over, bought a carton of L&M cigs for my lb for 150 baht, and a 700 ml Grants whiskey for 300 baht. You could take more back over if concealed, they weren't checking anyone. Then you can pay 20 USD and 200 baht (or 1000 baht) if you haven't prearranged visa. The 200 baht is their take on express fees or as they call it VIP. This gets you the big visa sticker. WAs no line took 3 minutes. Then you go next to the Casino to get stamped in and out. If you don't want to wait in line for that you can pay an officer for VIP service 300 baht and they get your stamps in less than 10 minutes, and you can head back over. I had to hurry as only train back left at 13:55. Lots of bargains on Cambodian side, and Thai side has big market, where I left my lb to shop while I went over and back.

the train is slow and dirty. Lots of school kids in the middle stages, boring scenery. Vendors selling limited food the whole way on train. they are on train the whole time, if your lucky you can buy something else through the window of the train, but keep in mind, its probably there leftovers, becuase they aren't counting your repeat buisness. Make sure you get a seat with sun to your back or suffer more.

Smokers can go inbetween cars to smoke. The way back is longer leaving at 13:55 and arriving Hau Lamphong at 19:21. You can also cacth this same train or get off at Sukhimvit 71, or Klong Tan, if your closer to those areas.

Travel agents will sell you visa run trips by bus for 2,500 to 3000 baht. My trip for visa and transportation cost me 1,300 and did it in a long day, that I will never get back. Add whatever expense to get to station. Subway goes to Hau Lamphong and about 100 meters apart.
