  • Makati

Off to Makati in March    and looking for hotel suggestions and good LB contacts for daytime and night time fun looking to squeeze as many encounters as poss into 4 days hopefully at least 3 a day so any help appreciated

  • #2
Just go to pic-link.com, bro. Over 200 gurls there last count. If you're squeezed for time just go to Pe. Burgos St., get an outside table at the "Matrix" bar and they'll eventually turn up.
    Have a great trip!

Daytime activities will likely be limited to the phone numbers you collected the previous night

While I have not tried Pic-link, I do know guys who have had good luck with girls who post ads there - just be sure to make your intentions known up front, as many are looking for a relationship rather than just a client

Absent a pre-arranged date, if you wish to confine your activities in Manila to the Makati area, go to Greenbelt (a modern shopping and entertainment center)

If you enter the GB complex by the Makati Ave entrance (near the taxi stand, and across the street from the Shangri-la hotel) you will pass an outdoor coffee bar (do not recall the name) on your right where many of the girls will be hanging out to check you out as you arrive

If there are no prospects there, continue walking about 100 meters - fish pond on your right, shops and restaurants on your left - until you pass Starbucks on your left and enter a small plaza with many outdoor tables and seats

The tables on the left of the plaza (adjacent to Starbucks) belong to the coffee shop, which (when I was last there several months ago) welcomes the LBs to hang out as they check out the crowd for likely prospects starting around 10 pm

The majority of the tables in the center of the plaza belong to Cafe Havana (the latin bar from which you will hear the music at night, and a venue which does NOT welcome un-escorted LBs)

You will also find the girls cruising Greenbelt in pairs (it is a large complex with 2 floors of bars and restaurants) until closing time around 1 am

An alternative to Makati for LB fun - either cruising alone or with a companion - is going to the older part of the city - near the bayfront downtown - in the district known as Malate

Formerly the red-light district in years past, Malate has in recent times been "gentrified" a bit with many upscale restaurants and clubs - but it still retains a bit of the old, slightly sleazy electricity

The Pan Pacific hotel (corner M Adriatico and General Malvar) bar often has a few LBs drop in, and is a known landmark in the area to which you can direct your taxi driver

If you walk south from the hotel down M Adriatico, you will soon encounter a string of bars on both sides of the street, several of which welcome the many working girls in this neighborhood

On Fridays and Saturdays also look for the Fab club on the right which has a small (but very classy) show at 1 am - last time I was there I saw several good looking LBs meet new friends there and depart after the show

Leaving Fab, if you turn right and continue down M Adriatico to the traffic circle at Remedios St, you will see on your left Cafe Adriatico, a landmark restaurant in the neighborhood where girls often stop for a drink, a bite, or (occasionally) a pickup in the wee hours (open until 6 am - good food too)

Also in Remedios circle is The Library, a small club which has a first-rate gay / lesbian / tg comedy show that starts around 10 pm - you will often see LBs there in a group to start out a night on the town with a great laugh

If you do catch the show at The Library, be prepared to be called onstage to participate in, and be part of, the fun - great stuff if you are out with a date

One of the Malate discos that the non-working girls will likely attend later in the evening is Bed, a few blocks away near the corner of Orosa and Nakpil streets

While Bed is primarily a gay crowd, the girls are welcomed there - and will often be there in a group on weekends after midnight

Finally, there are two cabaret shows in Manila which offer a nice alternative for finding a companion if you are feeling a bit adventurous

The Amazing Philippines show is the long-running cabaret located in the "CCP" (Cultural Center of the Philippines, a remnant from the Marcos era) next to the Westin hotel on the bayfront

A carbon copy of the Thailand shows, it also includes the usual photo op / "make a date" opportunity at the end of the two nightly shows - see previous forum posts for suggested techniques in this regard

One new arrival in the past year is Club Mwah, a flashy restaurant / nightclub and "entertainment theatre" (open Thursday - Saturday) located in Mandaluyong, about 15 min by cab from Makati

While the official show time is "between 10 and 10:30 pm" I have never seen it start before 11 pm - more the better for the many couples and groups to enjoy their after-dinner drinks downstairs

If you are there just for the show, alone, or with a LB friend, you will likely be seated in the upstairs seats (more the better to see the show, or to strike up a conversation with the LB seated at the next table or at the bar)

The excellent show lasts for about an hour, after which the performers will mingle on the stage to talk - and eventually dance - with the customers after the music starts again

While the two times I have been there were with a companion, the place looked like a good "make a date" opportunity - both with the LBs in the audience (there are a few in town who can afford the 500p cover charge) as well as the performers after the show

See their nice website  Club Mwah for pictures and videos of the show, as well as a map and directions to go there

To summarize a Manila "evening cruise" for a date -

If you do not have a companion for the evening, catch the first Amazing Philippines show around 7:30 pm - enjoy the show, take a picture of your favorite girl afterwards, offer a nice tip, and chat her up (quickly - she does not have much time before the second show) with the intent of meeting for a drink or a bite later in the evening after she finishes work

Make sure you have a mobile phone with you - sim cards are available in all shopping malls - so you can coordinate your meeting later

If you do not have any luck at the show, get a taxi to Greenbelt in Makati to arrive around 9:30 - 10:00 pm as the girls start to show up

If you have no immediate luck there, get a table outside Cafe Havana to watch for the new arrivals, or catch a cab to Club Mwah for the show at 11:00 pm (Thursday - Saturday only, be mindful or the dress code which requires long pants and collared shirt)

Enjoy the show, buy a drink for one of the LBs in the audience, or ask one of the performers to dance with you after the show

If you strike out at Club Mwah, you still have plenty of time to head down to M. Adriatico in Malate - or P. Burgos in Makati - where you will surely find companionship on the street or in the bars in either location

Have fun and let us know how your trip went

High praise from a guy who has been around - many thanks, Stewart

Despite the obvious vulnerability of being (to the Filipino eye) a wealthy foreigner, I have always felt comfortable in that country - whether it may be walking around the entertainment areas in Manila, or riding the Victory Liner bus to some destination in the provinces

I recall the days shortly after martial-law (in the Marcos era) when I lived there - many nightclubs still had "Please Check Your Firearms With The Establishment Before Entering" signs

Signs notwithstanding, I witnessed several confrontations which resulted in the discharge of a gun (typically by the bodyguard of a wealthy patron) either in the club, or more often outside

Walking around in those days was indeed not for the faint of heart

Today, it has been my experience that - if one walks with a easy but confident demeanor that suggests "I am a nice guy, but don't even THINK of fucking with me" - you will never have a problem

As far as late night action goes, Both P Burgos and M Adriatico streets will have people walking from bar to bar even at 3 AM or later

So long as you do not appear intoxicated or belligerent - a smile and some banter is the Filipino way, after all - you should be just fine

Check it out, and have fun

just a quick warning- beware of streetwalkers. i took one recently (from near la cafe) and she tried to scam me, of course they won't all be bad but i was unlucky. i'm kicking myself i didn't stick to a girl i met on the internet.
i took a photo but couldn't bear to keep it on my camera for 5 weeks- she was mid 20's with pointy facial features. the scam involved trippling the price once in the room, then threatening to cry rape if i didn't pay up. she didn't get anything off me but it wasn't a nice experience.
