good points sean but those topics cover 2 or 3 books.

An edited book of the forum should be just that, not a one-stop guide to all things ladyboy.

There is enough material in here to allow for a paperback or two of the better threads.

I have often looked through all the publications available on Thailand, looking for new material covering Bangkok nightlife & I can tell you there is nothing like this, & if I am any example of an average punter, I for one would snap it up in a heartbeat.

Title & cover design are critical in catching the buyers eye. This is a subject matter of endless fascination, particularly among those who don't know what we know...
Despite the high cost of living, it continues to be popular.

I am surprised by those who feel this subject matter makes it too risky for people to buy
Not risky to purchase only risky if and when a please explain pops out!

You have to admit when people start asking if you are a homo or not and your reply is "no, but i enjoy sucking a cock now and then"... you are going to get some odd looks

(seanbeag7 @ Aug. 30 2008,12:42) stogie,if you write up the trip reports, then i have one suggestion, find all of the late rob69in's trip reports and put them in one chapter, i think it would be a fitting tribute to one  of the original lb hunters.

        to that

sorry azza but buying a book about katoeys does not qualify someone as a homo...

Yes, I agree with you that I wouldn't leave it on the dining table for the kids to pick up & start asking questions, but couples I know would be very curious to share this type of reading.

You might want to think about just what you are projecting when you start suggesting that we need to make excuses for buying such a "forbidden" topic.

I have been around awhile & I know a lot of people but not one of them would ever raise such a question based on what I was reading.

I do know where you are coming from, but I feel you are drawing a long bow & you might want to question the motives of anyone who feels entitled to ask you for a "please explain".

They wouldn't last 5 minutes in my life if I had to justify myself over a book I purchased. But it is none of my business who you choose for friends....

If you look forward a bit one can see the E- Book being a product of the future and indeed i think Sony and others have launched such a product.. This is where this product will slot in .

The best of all worlds as these gadgets dont have covers. remember my royalty now Stogie...ha ha

Or if you launch a paper version provide a dummy cover like
" Ernesto Rubic -the inventor of the Rubic Cube- the official
            Biography "

Agree PC, but i not suggesting anything I'm being a realist. We live in a world where people jump to conclusion based on misunderstanding and assumptions.

If you re-read what i wrote, you'll realise i never wrote that buying a book qualifies someone as a homo, i indicated that the presence of a book may lead someone to ask the question.

I'm assuming, but i reckon most of the lads here are very discrete with respect to the LB activities and try and minimize their footprints. Having a LB book on the table or bookshelf may raise a few eyebrows....rightly or wrongly

I agree... I buy murder mysteries... it doesn't make me a mysterious murderer...

I'll do a short run, hand them out and ask for feedback.

Then do another run after I've made changes.

It's not gonna change the world but for people who like this forum and don't have internet for a while then it'll be fun to have.

Of course there will be members who have posted in the past who will get special attention...

stogie, i got one more suggestion, why not begin the book with a history of the forum of where it began and how it came to been, maybe list special members who at the beginning started the first trip reports and stuff and you could do a piece on how it has processed over the years.

pacman, thank you for your comments about the points i made, now let me make another one, why not create 3 books , part1,part2 and part3 and we can copyright all future editions of it .

stogie, can you ask the guys at guess bar for permission to photograph the sign out side their bar, i think a picture of the sign and the title "where is the Guess bar" would work nicely.

i don't think many people here could not afford 40USD for the book when printed, i hope you take these suggestions on board.

(stogie bear @ Aug. 30 2008,03:53) Some good posts so far and I'm taking all this info in.

I may run off an initial vanity pressing of between 50 and 100 and let them go via the forum to get feedback for the next edition...

                            Any ideas for a title?

                            I currently like...

                            "Where's the Guess Bar?"
                            "I'm not gay but ..."
                            No honey, no money!!

Fuck planning ahead, finding a publisher, and all that. It's the 21st century for crying out loud.  Why do you ever need to get a run printed?  Just use a Print-On-Demand service like Lulu.com, and then people can order it online when they want it, or contact you for a discreet copy.  And they can decide for themselves whether to get a paperback copy or a hardback.

There's no upfront investment with a POD service, and you can set the markup to be whatever you want.  Moreover, you can make a new edition right away, when you get new feedback.  Basically: use the reviews and travel info to get the framework of your book, and then just update it as new posts appear.  Once you get the basics down, it's not that hard.  However, getting anyone to contribute time would be less likely than for them to buy a copy.

You could give PDFs to favored members.  Also, with a POD setup, you could have special editions, with chapters such as  "Billy's 1001 Amazonian Nights" or "Learn to speak Dieter".  Or, a multilingual lexicon, appropriate to the reader, such as Thai-English, Thai-German, Thai-Mirimark, etc.

Go the print on demand route and you avoid upfront capital outlays.

Retired the top 12.  Need a new dirty dozen.

Update: The new list is coming together: Nong Poy, Anita, Nok, Gif, Liisa Winkler, Kay, Nina Poon.  Is it possible to find 5 more?  Until then, GGs:  Jessica Alba, Yuko Ogura, Zhang Ziyi, Maggie Q, and Gong Li.
