I think the barganing thing really matters if you live in LOS for long term or short term. If you go to LOS for a 2 weeks holiday than barginning from 1500 b to 1000 b is not really going to make that much of a difference (500 b equals roughly $15-$20 US) thats not going to really break your bank. However if you live there long term than yes the differences does add up in the end.

all that said, i wouldn't be comfortable paying less than 1000.
i myself am more just looking for a fair deal, not to gouge them.
i feel like when you get down to 800 or 900 its negligible and feels like youre just chiseling away for the sake of it.
i think theres a real difference between getting a fair deal and trying to niggle her down equivalent of $3 US worth.

now on a serious note, it is always good to negotiate on a price, Saved ,you have it right, she will appreciate it more if you bargain in the right light or humor. It's fun and in most cases works. If you get a flat out no from a superstar with all the attitude, think of it as a blessing, why? because she will be a star fish in bed
,I have always stated if you heap money on a thai whore she will just laugh at what a sucker you are and milk you for all your worth.
As for freebys, well thats another thing lol

(LB_better_than_GG @ Nov. 15 2008,14:26)  If you go to LOS for a 2 weeks holiday than barginning from 1500 b to 1000 b is not really going to make that much of a difference
I think this approach is right for many people. A buddy of mine just finished his first trip, gg only.

He's a sport and would rather pay a little extra to avoid potential problems. This approach makes lots of sense if that's your personality and your budget allows this.

So I told him he probably would be comfortable asking about price upfront and from any beer bar in Pattaya the girls would be very happy with 1000 shortime and 1500 longtime. I knew it would be worth it to him to pay a little extra.

So he's on Soi 6, and the girl said 700 baht shortime. He had a good time, gave her 1000 and she was overcum with joy.

Other guys want to pay just what's necessary and not extra and I can't fault this approach either if it's done in a friendly manner that doesn't diminish the sexual experience and everyone's happy.

Great thread because it hasn't (at least yet) evolved into a shouting match between the cheap charlies and the LDOPs.

(dummy_plug @ Nov. 15 2008,08:59) It's my Chinese upbringing that I blame cuz I never really want to buy or do anything unless I feel like I'm getting a good deal, regardless of the actual price.
I suppose every culture is a bit different re haggling but I know I appreciate a good deal too.

DP, next time I buy an air conditioner I'm bringing you along as designated negotiator!

                        Chinese upbringing!!

This touches a raw nerve with me as for years of running my own retail outlet I had many "experiences" dealing with Chinese customers.

In the end to save my sanity I had to leave them for the girls to deal with & I can honestly say in 25 years I never sold them a thing unless it was being given away.

I developed a much better understanding when I employed a Taiwanese girl who spoke Mandarin & Cantonese. She explained how they must be allowed to have the last say in price negotiation, how they were offended if the shop caused them to lose face.

OK, I said to her, any high price item (it was a jewellery store) you sell to any Asian I will pay you 10% commission, unheard of & a secret from all the other staff.

In 2 years I never paid her 1 cent extra & she conceded one day that it was an impossible task.

When I had my closing down sale they besieged the store, prepared to haggle for hours over any extra discount.

I realise that their issues far exceeded anything to do with perceived value, that their need to win at all costs is in their DNA.

Have I offended any of our Chinese friends here on the forum? I am sorry, nothing personal but for 2 & a half decades your fellow nationals sure as hell offended me.
Despite the high cost of living, it continues to be popular.

a perfect post that brings tears to my eyes...

I only wish I had that picture with your caption on my office wall years ago,

It would have picked me up after every difficult encounter.

The funny thing was that I had 2 girlfriends during that tme who were both born in Shanghai,

                            they never bought anything either...

                                     ...but gifts were OK
