people do tend to vote with their feet hope too many dont walk away from the forum,

im sorry you felt my contribution however small was crap, i am not begging for free membership or really that bothered what the board owner does, just thought i would give an opinion, and a few suggestions on covering costs alternately to charging members to read members posts,

i know if i had a ladyboy bar i would happily pay to advertise on the forum,

i will crawl back into my lurker status now however wont be lurking so often since there aint much content to lurk for anymore lol

oh and bumper actually my 200 dollar a year package works really quickly and video streams just dandy for the websites and forum, i went the dedicated server route initially but nowadays with the cheap excellent packages out there its non viable and expensive imho

...till something goes wrong! Glad it's working out for you, though. I agree there are some good reliable (and cheaper) places to get online hosting, etc.

Some are a bit strange about hosting porno and for others there are some technical issues that need addressing on the fly where paying more sometimes does pays off.

Yup that's the way it works.

I remember bitchin when Bar 54 raised their beer prices from 35 baht to 40 baht but I still kept going there.   I did vote with my feet when their staff of seven ladyboys including Pookie before she was well known was reduced to just one ladyboy.

So my guess is that people who like free, and who doesn't, hey I'd be back at Bar 54 if the beer was free, will stick around the free section since The Ladyboy Forum's free section is probably more extensive than all the other ladyboy forums combined.

And people who feel that being a VIP is worth 140 baht a month will do so.
The bottom line is that free members and VIPs are equally welcome.  It's a pro choice forum, up to you as the girls say.

I'm a frugal guy (don't pile on guys) but if I was going to Vietnam for example, which I'm clueless about, if there was a Vietnamese ladyboy forum it'd be worth the money to me so as to get contact info and make my trip go smoothly.  This Forum is not strong on Vietnam but as good as it gets for most of Southeast Asia.

no i dont live in hua hin so not the same guy sorry,
i have a few clubs here in Thailand so anonymity is key for me lol
money is also a non issue and 50 dollars in the realm of things is absoulutley nothing i know, its a starter and main course in brunos without wine or desert lol

i wasnt having a dig at you guys and as you can see i am hardly a contributor here so am sure my input is taken with a pinch of salt

was just commenting on past experience when i tried to charge for a forum that was very popular and ended giving up or giving everyone VIP status as my traffic vastly depreciated,

i think you had/have a great forum and all i am saying is i would hate to see it go down the shitter
i re iterate i am not asking for free VIP staus or for you to change the decision you made just offering an opinion, other average boards may well be rubbing there hands in glee at your decision if their traffic goes up and contibutors move over

if you have ground troops in pattaya or Bkok why not approach the clubs for advertising money i know dudley over at penthouse isnt short of a baht or two guess bar and other western owned clubs sure the thai bars would be slightly more difficult but obs, cason, and casc would be worth a punt as they for sure know your forum and get shitloads of business from it

temptations is owned by peter of the suzi wong group of bars soi cowboy and is a serial advertiser lol

anyway enough of my drivel

I already have secured revenue from some of the LB bars and other goods and service type businesses in Thailand. This has been going on for years.

You may have had bad timing for introducing the 'paywall' on your busy forum.

The world is changing and where as information was once expected to be free, more people are coming to terms with the fact that it does have to be paid for.

Newspapers are having a tough time because they are all selling the same information as each other so the most patient online businesses will win out.

Our forum has exclusive content that can't be found by going elsewhere. I also feel our timing is right. Paywalls have come of age.

In a few days we will be teaming up with a famous Thailand charity whereby all members will be contributing to a worthwhile fund when they join. It won't cost any extra and it will do a lot of good.

Wonder how many of the regular contributors would have walked if they had to pay the $50.  My guess is more than a few and that's why the admins decided to comp them to VIP status.
