How could you use a magnifying glass in a darkened theater to find the little fella?
        Just kidding naughty daddy.

Seriously, I'm considering letting you screen all potential future movies for me. I've found if Big Kahuna Burger likes a movie, there is a extremely good chance I'll like it too. He has excellent taste in movies, since he almost invariably agrees with me.

I took an LB to the IMAX at the Siam Paragon for the 1100 am performance today -

As I expected the story is pathetic and I had booked those expensive double seats at the back, so that if I was bored my companion might give me a BJ, to my great surprise I was "Blown Away" by the effects and the visual depth.

Much better than anything I have seen when I've taken LBs (or granchildren) to Universal Studios or Disneyland/World 3D presentations.

I think the movie is well worth seeing but only in the IMAX version.

Saw it in Imax 3D here in the USA. I was disappointed with the story but thought the effects and even some of the acting were great. The girl that played the lead alien... I thought her performance was amazing. (Yes, there IS an actress playing the character, they basically "rotoscoped" a CGI character atop her performance through feats of digital brilliance). Not sure how it would play in 2D but thought it was well worth the $15 in Imax 3D.

              Avatar: 100 Terabytes of RAM

by Jin on January 21, 2010

              in 3D, Movies

Avatar was absolutely fantastic. Weta Digital, the New Zealand company that created the digital effects for Avatar, stated that the film€™s detailed animations required computing horsepower, storage capabilities like no other project. Paul Ryan, Weta Digital€™s CTO:

King Kong used 100 terabytes of storage. For Avatar, we have 100 terabytes of RAM.
              http://www.displayblog.com/2010/01/2...abytes-of-ram/
That would be 100 terabytes of RAM in Weta€™s (NZ) server farm referred to as a €œrender wall€. Weta€™s render wall contains 35,000 CPU cores. It isn€™t surprising that Avatar required a new level of computing power but this is insane. Source: SearchStorage http://searchstorage.techtarget.com/news....5231997
