  • Filmmaker wants to shoot LB video...

    Hi guys!

I am totally new in here, have just browsed around to check out what it is all about.
    Cool place.

I work daily with cinematography, TV and docufilm projects.
Now I am looking into something I have dreamt of for a long time.
Would love to shoot some real good looking ladyboys for my own pleasure (who knows, maybe for someone else too).

    Any tips from you guys?
Keep in mind that I am newbie in this field.....

    Thanks in advance.

      2 points comes to mind.

1 - Law. Are you shooting a documentary or a porno? If it's a documentary, there should be no problems if you find willing candidates. If it's a porno, be very aware that the laws in Thailand are very strict against this. I would not advertise to much about what you are doing...

2 - (and it relates to the first point) Compensation. If it's a documentary, the compensation should be little. If it's a porno and you show up with that kind of camera and lights, you better triple whatever compensation you had in mind. These girls are sometime clueless but one look at the expensive gear and their internal calculator will be going in overdrive.

      Good luck!

          I would disagree with this.

I work in this industry and have twice tried to help set up a documentary shoot in Thailand (legally). There is so much red tape, expenese and absurd burochrasy surrounding what can and cannot be shot, it's not even worth trying unless you are working through a very well known organisation.

Examples are, you have to provide full scripting in advance (even if you don't know what you will be shooting) and you will have at least one Thai official there to watch you at all times during the shoot and make sure you are sticking to the scirpt (and you will be paying his wages - and you will have paid for the scripts to have been translated and read in advance - as well as edited by those reading).

You will probably find its far too much hassel and expense and have to go against the law. And as with shooting porn, be fully aware of the risks and punishment (and police pay off amounts!). Then ask yourself, is this really worth it?

                Need any 'ass'tistance ??

After every shoot make a backup and upload onto the internet or save and physically store it some place else.

In the event of the boys in blue barging into your hotel for their m150 money and fiddling with your gear you wont stand the chance of losing precious footage.

kliome - very true words and I agree with you. But I was generalizing with broad words in order to help. Filming a documentary may not be illegal, just a pain in the ass to shoot in a place like Thailand where everybody wants his or her share.

                    Hi guys!
Thanks for taking time to answer.
I'll check into all the rules and stuff, just shot in India and Cuba...took me 3 years of preperations to get it done, i know its time consuming and all.

For the smart guy with the tips on having film in the camera......you live in the past, there is no such thing as film in the camera anymore....we all shoot on digital formats....hehe.

                    Thanks!

I think you will have  a problem fitting the Red Camera in your room safe and I would not want  to leave one of those unattended in Thailand. And as ezflip said, one look at that and the girls will be working overtime with their arithmetic. I often have film and camera equipment in Thailand but only get my point and shoot out in front of P4P girls.
