  • Drinks...

I like to stop and having a beer here and there, even if i am not (or, at least, not yet) into barfining a LB, just looking around. That's what i can hardy do in Patpong, for example, because the drinks are so expensive.I wonder how expensive a beer (or another drink) can be in Pattaya...more expensive ina go-go, for sure, than a beer-bar, but...more expensive in a LB bar, or in a GG bar? Any examples, please?

Go to the 7/11. Exceptionally good value and it's air conditioned and the staff aren't pushy at all.

Have you ever been to Thailand I wonder??? Beer as an example in Patpong in KC3 is 100baht a bottle. Same beer in Nana is 135 baht and in Guess 110 baht. In Pattaya, somewhere like 131/Stringfellows/Goldfingers your looking at 90/95 baht and JSB last time I went in it was 100 baht.

It maybe ladydrinks you should be focusing on as these prices vary hugely. 130b for a cola in Nana, same in Patpong. 100 baht in Guess and 120 baht in likes of 131/Stringfellows etc. Alcoholic drinks are normally what is shown in the price list PLUS the amount of the girls drink commission (be it 30,40,50 baht), except in Guess where the ladydrink (other than the std cocktail) is at the same price as the regular customer price. Probably for that reason, customers tend to feel quite happy at buying them.

Spirits tend to float between 110b and 160 baht depending upon the price of the spirit your choosing, but typically average somewhere around 130 baht for something Johnie Walker Black Label or Jack Daniels and thats pretty consistent between Bangkok and Pattaya at least in dedicated LB bars. You also have to be aware that in some gogo's they do NOT serve premium spirits, even if you see it coming from a premium spirit bottle.

                  Cheers

Mardhi, those prices all look a bit high I think SB's advice is spot on for our poster, also when he does get round to bar fining 7/11 would be cheaper too.
I have to admit Sangsom "a la kerb" also conjures up a certain ambiance, no bar fine required either

The prices I have detailed are pretty spot on actually Patrick - I make a habit of being aware what all bars charge for drinks if only for comparison purposes. The 160's tend to be imported brandy. I could go onto Bottles but it will show Guess in an incredibly good comparison so I wont bother.

                      Cheers

Yep... the prices are spot on... but there are cheaper places to drink...The ladyboy caberet on soi 8 in Pattaya has loads of ladyboys and cheaper drinks... (70 Baht for a Heineken.)

There's a place for every budget in Thailand and although on the surface this seems like a daft subject, for some of us Thailand is a once in a lifetime opportunity and for many more it's also only 'doable' on a pretty tight budget.

I lived here for many years when the price of beer mattered a lot to me so I feel the pain!

There is still a limit on what I'll pay and 135 baht for a beer in a shitpit is just taking the piss.

Mardhi...i think you missed Patricks ironi...

but lets do some math..... lets see...if i can buy 1 singha 10 baht cheaper...

i just have to drink 200 singhas...and i have saved the money for a LT...

i guarantee that i will be stiff...but weither its from rigor mortis or viagra iam not sure....

i only remember one time when i choosed because of the prices...and that was in Bangla road one afternoon.. i was sitting in a quiet bar and ordered a singha...i looked a bit surpriced when they charged me 135 baht( not a gogo bar)...and when i was sitting drinking it i saw a big sign on the other site of the street saying ALL beers 50 baht...

well guess where i vent after finishing my beer... it actually became my"steady" bar for the rest of my afternoons in phuket...

otherwise like one wrote...who the fuck travel 6000 miles to save a dollar a beer..
all the ladyboys i know laughs when we have sex.....no matter what book they read

And expect it to go up again anytime now - this is the time when Crown Group revise their prices coupled with changes in duty on spirits introduced last week are already impacting wholesale spirit prices.

Not sure about the cabaret in Soi 8, Pattaya, but the one adjacent to soi 9 charges 90baht for Heineken, which is high considering your sitting in a beer bar with no aircon.

                            Cheers

I agree and the flip side of a 'once in a lifetime holiday' is that you should budget well for things that matter to you!

The price of booze is important if you drink a lot! There is a big difference between 50 baht and 135 baht and if I sit all day drinking then I know where I'm going! If you have the time you can find great value in both Bangkok and Pattaya as you can anywhere in the world.

In reality though (most) tourists don't study the price of beer too hard and just bleed cash for a few days.
