It sold for 2M THB, Nick's share only.

The other 3 surrounding bar owners are trying to dump their property for <1M, as there are no clients.

    Nick did well.

Congratulations to Nick. He's a nice guy, and I know things in Phuket have been going downhill since the tsunami (at least I think that's when it started).

He should think of putting his procedes into the Indian stock market, or at least someplace outside Thailand until they come out from under martial law.

It appears that Phuket has completely done itself in ... I don't like to go there anymore as I think the locals have gotten fairly nasty ... my last trip was 2 years ago, and definitely more trouble than it was worth ... I'll stay in Bangkok and Pattaya in the future.

Phuket is like watching 'The Piano' and going there expecting to find Schubert.

Only when you get there it's Nigel playing chopsticks

.....wow, great info/update. Seems that here in the USA, the name Phuket still conjures up visions of exotic Thailand beaches, world class diving and peaceful surroundings.......that's the image I have. But I suppose in reality, it would be hard pressed to beat some of our beaches, the diving and atmosphere. BUT would hands down offer better ladyboys. My original plan was to take an LB friend to Phuket with me as she has never been either. Maybe another road less traveled would be better.....and if SB has never been, makes me wonder what all the hype is about...........I suppose if you're traveling from Toledo, Ohio in December, Phuket truly is paradise.
            ....so,  you're really a guy?..............

Sorry, but the bad news is bogus.

I go there regularly, including for 2 weeks in Jan, and in 3 weeks from now. The development of commercial places has boomed since the Tsunami. It is more built up than before, and generally those developed are quite good.

There seems to be less customers in bars, although the beach was quite packed at Chrismas, but that is not so bad.

The police, taxis, and punters on the beach are famously bad, and that won't change, but how often do you talk to a policeman? And in Phuket you don't need a taxi 99% of the time.

And, it still has natural beauty that will never go away, and is world-class.

Finally, and most importantly, I continue to have some of my best times with LBs in Phuket. My calendar has 6 girls from Phuket, and I'd like anyone to try to find 6 more beautiful women who - all dance at the same place, Soi Crocodile, typically showing EVERYTHING they have, every night, in front of throngs of lookers. It's a sight not to be missed.

Were the revenue and profit numbers posted on the website total lies?
A very important aspect we have addressed is the Goodwill between partners. We have installed * Bar Soft * computer management system which is the most advanced Food & Beverage control system suitable to the Thai market ; and it gives total safety of all aspects of the business for one or multiple Owner(s). This takes-away any uncertainities whatsoever about the finances and trading of the business.

I like the part "control system suitable to the Thai market" that means there is a secret control panel where you can go in and cook the books.

Plus add your payments to the Police, Kings Group, local Mafia bosses, and the General

I had a good time there as I with was with a lot of mates from the and my thai GG g/f at the time
Doubt very much I would go there again though

This from the one poster who likes it!

And are they 'famously bad'? I hadn't heard that they were. In fact this is the first mention of how bad the cops, taxis and punters are. I had kind of assumed it would be a lot better than Pattaya.

Anyone else been to Phuket and have an opinion?

of my four trips to LOS (so far), 3 have included stays in phuket and all have been enjoyable - except for the food poisoning from the fried squid bought on the street outside c&d.

i agree with ziggy that some of the ladyboys there are as beautiful as (almost) any in thailand. and some of my best times have been with girls there including cha, jeje, anna, amy, witni and others whose names seem to change with the weather. and the view at soi crocodile is second only to the nana exodus parade for sheer entertainment value.

add to that the accessibility of a get-away like phi phi island (as easy from patong as samet is from pattaya) and i rank it tied for second with pattaya as 'must-see' for lovers of ladyboys and leisure.

There was a post a while ago with some farang tourist being beaten up by a Taxi drier. - Yes - it was probably some drunk eurotrash, but still no excuse for violencs. TIT.
seriously pig headed, arrogant, double standard smart ass poster!

                              Hey Guys

                              - I been to Phuket for last 4 years.....
                              - been back several times since Sunami
                              - sure its become more commercial
~ and its becoming very couply~~

But still a great place to go~~~
And sorry for such a bad expression, but its a buyers market as the bar scene does seem to be on the decline
so there is heaps of girls and ladyboys for each guy~~

Trick to Phuket is knowing where to spend ur time during the day

And it ain't Patong beach~~~ (thats for the nightlife only)

take a look at the map and try the other places....
                              It still paradise

Take a look at Surin Beach or Nai Hairn beach for example

But i think you gotta get to these other places quick before they are lost also.....as the commercialisation spreads...

                              Good hunting fellas

                              Azza

                              A worthy trip report
