I have spent new years in thailand from 1996 to 2007, missing only 2005 and 2006. It is a great time. One suggestion, if you are going to party in bangkok, I would plan your activities within walking distance of your hotel, or get a hotel for the night near where you will be partying. Once midnite hits, you will not be able to get on skytrain for 1-2 hours and all taxi drivers will charge a minumim of 500 bath to take you anywhere. the roads will be gridlocked like you have never seen. I spent many years in pattya, it is a greta toime and you can walk pretty much wherever you need to go. But, either way...best place to spend new year. I agree...prices are up, but if you come in a week or so before new year....you can find a girl earlier and work out something ahead of time to save a few bucks...as far as barfine, that will go waaaay up. I always find a girl that I know and doesnt work ar a bar, works for me.
