Here in Oz (Sydney) at some of the pole dancing type clubs the girls MAY sit next to you and want a drink and ask you if you want a private show (often this is NOT the one you want to talk to). The drink is (converted) Bt200 and 15 minute (no touching) private show Bt1500. The liquour laws in Sydney prevent much touching (appart from the odd little bit, although some stretch this to the limit) and you cannot touch them.

Switch to LOS. I've never been there but will arrive on Saturday for the first time. If I walk into a bar/gogo and become the centre of attention then spending a few thousand baht on ladies drinks would be a bit of a buzz. Being mobbed, to me at this stage, sounds great.

Will have to get back to you in a couple of weeks to compare the above to the reality.

Anyhow, Stogie, I don't care that you disagree with me. I've learned to appreciate that as implying I'm likely right in everything I've said. So thank-you for that comment.

However, I think many of you are missing my main point, even Snick! You walk in a bar. The mob is there. The mob lasts a whopping total of perhaps 20 seconds if you simply pick a girl, or a waittress, to sit beside you, and spend that enormous 100 baht. Mob gone. Everyone happy. I do agree with Snick if someone just sits beside me, perhaps after the fact, without invitation, they are not welcome, and I tell her to go. Simple as that. Not rudely. Not violently. Just, 'no thank you'.

And I am perhaps missing the point as to why you guys think the girls are wrong doing this. There are 100 girls at Obsessions. At any one point in time, there might be, oh, 10 customers? All of these girls just want to make money. That's how they survive. How can you possibly disagree with that? Ok, you can say you don't like it, and I don't really love it, but I do not get angry at it, as I understand why they are doing it, and can stop it by spending 1 beer's worth of my money for the evening.

My standard practice in Obsessions is to walk in, and immediately pick a (harmless) waitress to sit by me. I have a happy experience every time I go, and everyone else seems ok with that. I don't leave frustrated and angered as some of you seem to.

You are making a not very complex situation into something with very complex overtones, like 'they should know we are westerners'. These are 17-20 yr olds from the farm, trying to make a buck. That's all.

So are the girls who work in McDonalds last time I looked.

The key difference as you well know Zoggy is that the girls in bars are penalised by NOT selling lady-drinks - makes a huge difference to your salary if you dont hit the magic number of XXX drinks - basically you work for free. So lady X who does the polite thing and gets 50, yes 50 drinks bought for her earns the princely sum of some 2,000 baht month. Another girl who gets 100 drinks earns 8,000 baht as she has hit her full quota and gets her full salary. Sorry but to me to at least this system is totally flawed to the advantge of the bar and against the girl. I wont go into how Guess Bar handle this area, as no doubt I will be accused of bias, however, its fair to say that the girl in Guess Bar is NOT penalised salary wise, as to how many drinks she gets.

Well, everyone has their own way of dealing with the aggressive behaviour and your plan works for you.

I went there (Obsessions) tonight with two chums and cleverly positioned myself in between them! That works for me!

Why should I get defensive and fall back on a pre-designed plan just to enetr a bar? It's insane.

Obsessions was rocking tonight... loads of new and used items for sale.

Indeedit was superb. and Mamasan Riga kept the pack at bay!

A load of new girls since January and Definitely the largest selection of ladyboy talent in the world.

But back to the mobbing debate; a couple of japs arrived as we were there and were then surrounded by a "mob" of 10-15 or so. They were still there when we left half an hour later!!

I was sitting with May a week or so ago when a contingent of Japanese entered and were surrounded by the horde...I looked at her and she said she didn't bother because they don't like her...In my opinion they must be blind...

However, then she said, "Japanese never come in alone."  How true, seldom will you see a Japanese customer enter the bar alone...almost always in groups...sometimes with their Japanese GF or wife or? And more often than not, I watch them leave without taking a girl...

Some of the girls, at least the smart well-behaved girls like May, understand how things works much better then we ever will...

They surround Japanese / Korean customers & the like because its easy money, they generally over pay & don't require them to do much. There popularity is in there walet the same as ours is, they've just got more in it than we have.

Interesting stuff for a new aficianado (today's big word) of the LB scene.

The scene seems not dissimilar to the bar / gogo circuit in many parts of the world, a mixture of buyer beware and have I died and gone to heaven?

I would say that Rob69 and Kahuna have the best ideas on this, namely you choose who you spend your money on and don't wave a fortune about unless you want to be robbed.

As a newbie I probably won't have some friends to act as back up unless there's an ATS emergency SWAT team out there.

I know what you are talking about, KC3 has without doubt taken a down turn, & there customer base has probably started to be prodominantly tourist horde & gawping masses, clueless & unaware of what is going on around them. Easy pickings for the scam merchants & nutters alike. No doubt when punters stroll in half aware of whats going on they don't like it. But i still find the place entertaining.

This place will always stay open just for this very reason; the clueless hordes who stay near Silom and are in BKK for the first time walk into this joint and most don't even realize they are looking at boys..... or you see couples in there who know, the husbands take their wives in there 'cause they are curious and sit around gawking at the stage like it's some kind of a freak show; weird.

I asked my date [who works in Obs] if she would work in there; she says "no way" LOL

This board talks a lot about the Nana bars and of course the Guess Bar but it's obvious that the experienced ladyboy-hunters up here never go to this place, except for old fools like myself and TC who like torturing ourselves!!
