Arrived in Pattaya yesterday. Walked around and am shocked so many businesses have closed up and gone forever. Some buildings demolished. My favorite fried rice restaurant on soi 13/2 is closed for good even though their gas stove and wooden folding chairs are still there. Bhukao tent Flea Market has improved with daily hours and more permanently built stalls. Ground covered with tarps and nailed down with soda bottle caps. Lots of busy food stalls and shoppers.
lots of food to buy. Wish I hadn't planned my stay for 2 months. Better just one. Whatever happens here will determine whether I return or visit Viet Nam or Angor Watt. Interesting article that the new PM is getting greedy and might start taxing expats even though they getting hit back home. Might spur some to move to friendlier Cambodia, Philippines. Or Vietnam. Bet ya after they do so in large numbers they will also consider amusing them with their own taxes. Bet some would consider abandoning their thai wives and flee back home. If the PM really wants some good advice then just give everybody free 90 days visa on arrivals. Stop wasting time making up excuses why not to chance this opportunity. Open some casinos like Macao. Chinese have too much money to throw around. Like the Arabs and Russian oligarchs.

Tonight I'll scope out Tree Town and see if it's interesting. Time to get a tan

I think most of the old streets close to the beach will end up getting rebuilt. Everything was still from the 70's and needs to be nuked. Most of the sex business and bars seemed to moved north past second road even before covid. I don't mind if they blast all the nasty old shit in Pattaya. Just as long as the fun comes back.
Don't expect gambling in Pattaya any time soon. The arrest seniors for playing bridge. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-35491852

I remember that article. Thai cops r stupid, ignorant, and corrupt idiots with just a high school education. The card count was used to save face and still make some money via fines. The government does not finance cops. They are supposed to use their imaginations. At's why the former head of Thailand's FBI was arrested and discovered lots of warehouses full or Buddha statues, gold ingots, jewelry, cars, cash, properties, etc. How much money does anybody need to be happy and secure? Even Chan-Ocha and defense minister with his fancy watches have scored $2M in income during their reigns. Don't try talking to cops. They can't master Engreesh. They just talk and yak yak their silly heads off without understanding what u said. Those news articles where they have arrest criminals quickly r just controlled press releases to fool u that they're hard working and successful criminal blockers. Actually they r the real criminals. Same all over the world. Their favorite line to tourists, " When r u leaving?". FUCK YOU COPS!!!!

Today is Wednesday. Walked around to soi Buakao and Tree Town I'm the late morning. Impressive that they built such a nice playground from scratch during the Covid19 crisis. It's a complex in a U-shaped street. I don't thing there's any ladyboy bars here. Nearest would be the old Fantasy Lounge. Saw about 4 repulsive ladyboys who are jokes to look at. Maybe better ones at night. Come to think of it there are few crowds anywhere. I read there were lots of people for the November 27 fireworks and Loy Krathong. Chiang Mai had some burning buildings resulting from illegal floating lanterns released to the skies. Even after warnings not to do so. Chiang Mai continues to own the title as most air polluted area on earth.

Next year I should land earlier in bangkok in time for Halloween and then Pattaya for Loy Krathon and fireworks. Hope there will be another display for Christmas. Or I head for Krabi to see the fabulous beaches and Moonlight Party every month. Youtube those parties. They're very well organized with rows of sellers of party goods and liquors. Big bon fire. Funny to read about girls drinking spiked beer with a tree bark that mimics date rape drug. And guys getting robbed or fooled into paying jacked up baht bus return trip fares. Good idea to bring along my Canon 80D, zoom lenses, Canon electronic flash and lots of eneloop batteries. For now I suggest u youtube Moonlight Party Thailand. Any body got suggestions for a 3-star hotel well located near the action and great free breakfasts?

Gonna have to some research how to jet plane to a boat dock and plan to stay at Ko Samui and Ko phangan maybe for a week each. Then fly to Krabi for some beach walking, snorkeling, boating, and visit Monkey Beach. Already been to Phuket and my impression is Fuck It. Only one street and the street music is way too loud coming from the building full of tiger signs and carvings. Popular with Russians and Europeans because they have direct flights to their airport. Fuck the taxi mafia. They are serious ripoff artists. Read they picked up a newly Wed looking forward to their honeymoon in a 5-star hotel. Driver stopped on a lonely road, told them to pay their ripoff fare, and get out. He left. After a few suspenseful minutes another taxi appears and demands an exorbitant fare. Cannot argue. Bet ya they got ripped off again returning to the airport. Or they got smart and reserved the hotel's nice limo service. Not the long kind. Just a top of the line Hyundai Genesis sedan in black with leather seats. I used to own one. What a pocket rocket. 430 horses turbo.

a serious tip. NEVER catch a bus from Pattaya to Ekamai in Bangkok. You won't save money
Their taxi Mafia will charge u a thousand to take u to any hotel. Dragging your luggage and flagging a taxi won't work. That's how organized these motherfuckers are. just reserve a taxi to Bangkok. Going price is B1500. I have seen some signs say B1100. Frankly i don't tip taxi drivers in Thailand. Scooter taxis, yes. If you've never ridden one get prepared to scream your head off. They swerve into oncoming traffic, squeeze into spaces between cars you'd normally not want to enter on foot. Watch them swerve onto sidewalks scaring pedestrians, drive up to the intersection, and cut in front of everybody. In wide turns you can touch cars on both sides of the scooter. Would be exiting if the next James Bond movie could be filmed there while chasing a terrorist. This Bangkok experience is unmatched.

will need to check if the boat service between Pattaya and Ko Samui has resumed. Same for pattaya- Hua Hin. A lot of good services might be gone for a few years. Unless the government gets smart and gives 90+ day visa on arrival. I think the USA gives one year tourist visa by application.

I think I found the BEST restaurant in Pattaya. Tonight I eat the half roast chicken dinner with mashed potatoes, gravy, and vegetables
                  B250. Place is on Bhukao street. 20231129_175936.jpg 20231129_175958.jpg 20231129_180014.jpg 20231129_180025.jpg 20231129_180039.jpg 20231129_180100.jpg 20231129_180158.jpg

After dinner I walked over to Tree Town about 7:30 pm. Nice big u-shaped street full of brand new bars. Few expats having beers with friends but mostly empty bars with small numbers of mostly young pretty girls. Very wide street of newly poured concrete. Bright signs everywhere. I think the crowds disappeared after the Loy Krathong and fireworks celebrations, and many girl returned home with their successful ventures. Now many empty bars. Good if u like having all the bargirls to yourself. Just pull out your wallet. I found most of the crowd were situated at the south (walking street side) entrance where the sit down crowd likes to people watch. There's a large dining area with about 20 takeout places. Lots of girls pushing colorful menus 20231129_191827.jpg 20231129_191933.jpg 20231129_192247.jpg 20231129_192330.jpg 20231129_192754.jpg 20231129_192841.jpg 20231129_193223.jpg order and sit in the hallway full of tables and chairs. Good crowd.

Walked over to Fantasy Lounge. Same old 3 ladyboy used cars. Then stumbled into the next bar where i saw a very pretty thing. Slender, attractive face, friendly, and a hot body with long straight black hair. I asked if she was lady or ladyboy. She said lady. I asked why her hips were so narrow. She turned around and lifted her skirt. Nice smooth round button. She turned around and said she's ladyboy. The best one I've seen since arriving last Monday. Barfine is B500. Was B300 at Fantasy Lounge. Both have rooms for ST at B300. This gal quoted B1500. Might return and try for B1k. Will ask if she's small, medium, or large. Hard or soft. When's the last time she cum. Still I think many ladyboys returned home to their provinces for a short break. I think there's no ladyboy bars in Tree Town because they can't afford the rent. Will visit Soi 6 and see how many there are this is the LB bar with the pretty LBoy.

checked out LK Metro . Small crowds
then I walked over to Beachwalk. This pandemic has ruined everything. Fewer girls and no ladyboys. The closing of the Kings Bar across the street from the Sunshine Hotel must have been an omen. 2 months after that came the Chinese pandemic. Depressing. Reconsidering whether to change destination to Krabi and take a side trip to Singapor, cambodia angor watt, or north Vietnam. Would you lije to stand in long lines, hand over a small photo, and pay $65 to visit one of the best ancient ruins in Asia? After viewing AWatt on youtube it is a huge area. The ruins is only a small part.

I don’t understand why everything is so dead in Thailand. Can this really be true? The Philippines seems completely back to normal and some of the malls were incredibly crowded.

Philippines opened up earlier. Stopped covid restrictions sooner. Smart. I got my covid, RSV, and flu updates last month. My KAL flight did not require masks. Thai customs did not require proof of vaccinations or covid tests. I'm hoping more tourists and prettier hookers come soon for Christmas.

Going to Witherspoon for some clam chowder. Then ride the baht bus (price increased to 10 bahts. Minor) To Soi 6. Then some relaxing massage. Price is still B200 for foot massage. B250 for head and shoulders. More for thai massage (head to toe). Don't think any massage parlors closed. There's lots more Indian restaurants now.

Last night soi 6 was full of beautiful young girls. Wall to wall chicks. BUT few male customers. Tons of girls lined out on the street in front of their bars in new uniforms. I think they have to pay for them. Girls r paid a percentage of the drinks they can sell to men. Percentage of the bar fines and all of the St or LT they can sell their bodies for. Sadly those 2 ladyboy bars are are no more. Didn't check the side alley where a lot of gopro videos used to be made of them waving t o guys passing by. Walked along Beach road and nothing but bored dull girls. Only 4 smiled at me. Tourist traffic is only medium. Might check out Walking Street tonight. Yesterday and today is cloudy. No rain but still uncomfortably warm and humid. Really disappointed I came to find an economic disaster. Will have to spend more time lying down in a darkened room recieving Thai massages. I sleep much better after them.
