No offense y'all, but I have to (respectfully) say that your being quite naive about the situation here... Methamphetamine use (via ya ba or Ice) is used by (in my opinion) 90% of the ladyboys working in the sex industry... In my time here in Thailand I can only recall 3 ladyboys (that arent brand new to the scene) that dont do drugs whether it be for moral reasons, health reasons, or whatever..

I listed the reasons (which SEEM obvious to me -- but then again, I actually have experience doing drugs, hehe) on the thread about "Porn and Ladyboys" on the General forum... but I'll list them again here for your convenience.

1. Drugs give people energy. (Energy which can be used to say, dance all night, or fuck all night)

2. Speedy drugs such as Meth and Cocaine tend to make people horny.

3. They also dull the senses in certain areas like say... an ass. Many people who think it hurts getting fucked in the ass, actually enjoy it when they do drugs. That is why drug use is ESPECIALLY prevalent with GAY sex workers.

4. Drugs give people a more "carefree" attitude which is useful in a job where fucking people that you aren't attracted to is just another day at work.

5. And then there is Xanax (a Ladyboy Zombie favorite) which is prescribed for anxiety. It numbs the mind which is also great for when you have a job in which you are fucking people that you really don't want to be. Xanax is also a ladyboy favorite because it can make it very easy to forget anything that happened while you are on it.

6. Speed is an appetite suppressant. People who sell there bodies need to control their weight if they want to be sellable.

Methamphetamine does NOT make people insane. It is the LACK OF SLEEP that makes them crazy. The ladyboys who know how to take care of themselves while taking drugs (making sure they sleep every night as well as eat every day) you can not even notice they use drugs.. Apparently this makes up a large percentage of them because it appears many of you have been fooled into thinking that Fern is the exception rather than the rule...

While I can agree that there is an evil side to drugs, I don't think many of you grasp that drugs are actually RESPONSIBLE for many of the positive aspects that you come here to experience.. I wont mention any names, but I recall chatting with one of you outside of 131 in Pattaya one night.. and there was a comment about one of the ladyboys looking thin, because she was doing ice... and how drugs are terrible... then the conversation went to the best LB experience you had... A LB from Cascade... had an insatiable sex drive, was enthusiastic about the sex, etc.... and I recall thinking to myself (I might have said it outloud as well... I dont recall) that every reason that was listed that actually MADE IT your best LB exoerience was ABSOLUTELY the effect of said ladyboy taking methamphetamines... Yes, there are people that have those qualities without ice.. but NOT MANY.

So, having said all of this, hopefully many of you will be less harsh in judging these people as far as this goes... I mean really, unless the person is stealing from you to pay for their drugs, or gets violent with you, etc, what REALLY is the problem? It is definitely sad to see someone who cannot handle their use of drugs, just as its sad to see someone who lets alcohol get the best of them.. Thats part of life... Everyone has their faults, but I do think that the singling out of Fern is quite unfair and pretty rude.

Kahuna, I can think of zero instances of methamphetamine killing a ladyboy.... Yes, it CAN do some shitty things such as make them lie cheat and steal to support their habit... but kill? I think that might be a bit drastic. I *DO* still owe you a beer for that shirt you and your sexy avatar gave to me.

However the world would be a better place without drugs, full stop.

My only concern is for people I care about and no one else.

Thanks to the guys that I sent me PM about this with their support . Have told Fern she has many good friends in the bar and on this site and she appreciates them all.

I hope and think she will prove all her doubters wrong and she will be back on top form very soon.

With some amazement I read your post about methamphetamine and xanax. First I don't see that you make a difference between a casual and a chronic user. Yes true that at least 70% ( you even say 90%) is on yabba/ice . Most are even chronic users. But it is very important to take that on account too. *So I like to give some additional information too:

yes true for a short while but every time the effect is gone you feel washed out. Also on the long term your body ( because of less eating) burns it's own energy.
Weight loss etc.

Yes true but only in the beginning. A big misunderstanding.With chronic users and most lb's on ice/yabba are chronic users an erection becomes a problem. Also most fall into a depression and won't feel horny again by being a chronic user. Ever seen a depressive person horny or like to have sex?

point 5)
Xanax can be a popular drug by gay's or lb's but ever worried about side effects or what this drug does. Yes it works but it only depresses the symptoms of anxiety. It never takes away the cause.
Side effects are nice too:
sleepy or hangover, no feelings ( like a zombie) . tired all day, visual disorder , feeling less horny (oops) , lost of memory ( sometimes beyond repair),addiction by chronic users, agression, nightmares , depression , tolerance and rebound effects ( when you stop at once with effects like anxiety, agressive, no sleep, headache, aversion against light, sound, taste or smell)
6) sounds nice as a theory but what lb can or is willing to spend money on a doctor or is aware of that.
Also by using methamph there is a much higher risk of anorexia. The main problem with an anorexia patient is
that they always think their weight is too high. I'm afraid in thailand your point 6 simply doesn't work.
Not even mentioning that many lb's also use androcur and female hormones. In combination with methamph I can tell you it is party time
Now the rest of your post:
Methamp does make people insane. It is not the lack of sleep ( I lived for two months with a yabba/ice lb and she slept all day besides other funny things) that drives them insane because after the drug is eliminated they get very tired. On the long term a chronic user becomes psychotic or schizofrenic and addicted .Maybe a sane person to you but did you ever had to work with these kind of patients. Also this kind of psychosis is difficult to treat. The same goes for the addiction. Besides that there is *the famous *craving ( the worst part of yabba/ far worse than alcoholics or smokers) that drives a user mad. Also heard of the famous hyperthermia:
This can happen with any user (chronic or casual) within 15 minutes until 6 hours after you took the drug. Then you get hyperthermia, dehydration, hart failure, high or low blood pressure, kidney failure. Yes and with a little luck you even DIE. Ask theparents of a 14 year old girl who used yabba here in holland for the first time and died of this. Yes so much pleasure for the parents mr crush.
Also you might like to know a little bit about other side effects like:
Risk of liverdisease ( indepndant of dosage or how long you use it/ many ex lb friend caught this too/ look nice on the skin I can tell you), chronic headache, visual disorders , fear, agressive behaviour, memoryloss beyond repair and risk of getting parkinson disease ( although some doctors doubt the last )
In my opinion the positive effects don't measure against this. Sad you seem to forget this and talk about drugs like candy. A few moments of pleasure can never be a reason to take this. If you do *ok it is your decision but I think because of this thinking many lb's started with something they could't handle. I don't get harsh on the users. Look at their background: most are very poor, uneducated and sometimes childish in their behaviour. Compare that to Us or european farangs with a good education. Do you really think these poor souls ever knew what they started with. Yes you know and seek your own pleasure. They never realized until it was too late. Even then a farang finds a way out but a thai I have my doubts. Look how poorly thailand handles programs to help addicts from their addiction. I never judge on a yabba user who cannot help her addiction because it started many times to please farangs like you. But instead I ask you to look in the mirror and ask yourself why did I post this? To please yourself again maybe.
